Cash's Towing and Recovery

Review: My daughter's car blew a tire and due to the unsafe conditions the state police called a tow service. We had one on the way. This person showed up, towed the car to the dealership, 40 miles one way and charged $420.00, 100.00 of which he said was a "winch charge"

I called several towing business in the area and the highest quote was 225.00 and that was if it was a hazardous condition such as in a ditch.

I do not want to have a negative mark on my credit but I think paying such a high bill is a bit much!

Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I am responding to the above complaint. My accounting of what happened is as follows.I received a call on April 9, 2016. from the Virginia State Police. I arrived at the location onInterstate 81. The vehicle was next to the guard rail. Trooper [redacted] told me to impound thevehicle because of safety reasons. The owner of the vehicle was not present. There were nokeys in the vehicle. This makes the process of loading the vehicle more diflicult. After I loadedthe vehicle on my tow truck, the owner arrived. She requested that I not impound the vehicle butthat I tow it to a location in [redacted]. I agreed to tow her vehicle to [redacted] (80miles round trip), which saved her the impounding and storage fees that would have beencharged to her. I delivered her vehicle to the place she indicated and lefì my bill in her vehicle. Icharged her the normal rates for towing and winching a vehicle. On April 12, 2016, I wasapproached by the owner. She said she was unhappy about the fee I charged. I offered to reducemy fee from $420 to $240. The owner agreed and we settled.Sincerely,Robert F. Cash
