Good Morning, We received notice of the cockroaches on August 25,by different tenantsInsects and Pests are an unfortunate aspect of Self-StorageWe make it very clear through multiple stages of the leasing process that certain items are strictly prohibited to be kept in the unitsFood
is one of those thingsOnce we were aware of the cockroaches we immediately called the owner of the unit the cockroaches were coming fromThey had to clean out their unit that evening and were evicted from the propertyI stayed at my facility well into the evening insuring that we had a handle on any unit effected and notified the owners of the effected unitsI went to *** *** and bought various cockroach treatment products and started to apply them to the hallwayI also distributed them to the neighboring units including ***On August 28, Ohio Exterminating came and did a treatment of the entire facility (which they do monthly) to ensure this problem was taken care of When the owner of the unit with cockroaches did no return my calls and her friends & family did not return as promised to finish emptying the unit I had to do it myselfOnce I put everything in the garbage the dumpster was fullWe transferred *** on September 5, one unit over from *** to *** to avoid being near the previous infested unitWe also credited her a free month rent as requested. When I came in on Monday September 18th I noticed a lot of trash sitting out on the pavement by the hallway door to these unitsI called *** to see if that trash was from her unit and she stated that it wasI informed her that she must come and remove the trash including the two mattress that were still in her old unit #***When she came into our office later that day she had a real attitude and was yelling in front of a customerShe said the dumpster was locked and I reminded her that it is a corporate policy (standard across the self-storage industry) that the dumpster is for office use onlyThis is stated on the rules that are presented to new tenants as part of their move in packetThis is also listed in the office on the rule board.
