Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/02/26) */
On June 17, *** brought her car to Cass County Tire for runs roughAfter diagnosing the problem it was determined to have a bad mass air flow sensorOnce replaced and confirmed fixed the problem she picked car upShe then brought
the car back on January 21, for car running rough we again inspected the car and found that the pcv valve was not working properlyWhich we replaced and we also noted the intake leakingNothing done with the intake at that timeThe mass air flow sensor was checked and confirmed that part was working correctly at that timeThen Miss *** came into Cass County Tire stating she had taken her car to the dealership and they stated that the mass air flow sensor was badShe was using very foul language, very loudly in front of many customersShe would not listen to any explanationKevin was trying to explain to her that we would have to send the part in to the manufacturer for testing, as Cass County Tire did not make the partShe just kept using foul language and would not listenAt that point she left again using very foul languageThe part has been sent in to the manufacturer for their decisionPrior to even receiving this letter, Kevin was willing to refund Miss *** the cost of the part, however, she did not give Cass County Tire the opportunity to solve this matter in an adult fashionShe has been refunded the cost of the part, even though the manufacturer has contacted us stating that the mass air flow sensor is working properly
There will be no further refund givenMiss *** has received her refund and agreed to this compensation

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/03/17) */
*** *** brought loose used tire into Cass County Tire to be mounted on her loose rim (no vehicle was brought into Cass County Tire)The salesman, Nick, looked at the used tire and explained to *** that by looking at the DOT the tire
was over years old and was dry rotted*** stated that her dad had given her the tire and it was a newer tire and that it was fine to go ahead and mount and balance the tire
The tire *** brought in was NOT new nor was there a hole in it when tire was mounted by Cass County TireAfter *** took the tire, she or someone else mounted it on a vanThe tire failed due to dry rot, which caused it to leakWhich was all explained to *** when she brought the tire in
There will be no refund as the salesman explained the age of the tire and the condition prior to Cass County Tire mounting and balancing the tire

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/08/09) */
The [redacted]'s had their 2004 Cavalier towed to Cass County Tire for a no start and possible timing issue, per Mr. [redacted].
Cass County Tire explained to the [redacted]'s that we would need to repair the broken timing chain in order to get the car...

running before we would know what if any internal damage was done when the timing chain broke.
After removing the front cover, the timing gears were bad and had jumped time. Cass County Tire installed new gears and chain in order to further diagnose the vehicle. At that time bent valves were found. In order to repair the valves the head would need to be removed adding to the cost of the repair.
The customer was advised of the additional cost and elected not to repair the vehicle. The customer was advised that Cass County Tire would remove the new parts and not re-assemble the vehicle in order to minimize the cost as much as possible. These parts would have to be re-removed should the customer decide at a later date to repair the vehicle. The customer thanked us for not adding to the bill.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 9, 2016/08/17) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
As I said in the complaint. Cass County Tire gave me an estimate over the phone before we had the car towed to them. Then when they started work they increased the cost for the same repairs we talked about on the phone. Cass Cty Tire is completely ignoring that part of my complaint. They refuse to explain the estimate of [redacted] being raised to [redacted] for same repairs.
On the phone when I ask what it would cost to install a new timing chain kit, which included chain tensioners gears, etc., they man told me depending what type of cam the engine had, it would be between $[redacted]-XXX. Then I ask if they found valve and head damage how much more would it cost. The man said if there was valve and head damage it would push the total cost up to around [redacted]
There is a big difference between [redacted] and [redacted] The [redacted] cost was for the exact same repairs as we talked on the phone about which the man said would be around [redacted] I feel once they got the car in the shop they thought they had us hooked. They either lied to me on the phone about the cost or they where screwing us over with an inflated bill.
Since the cost went from [redacted] to [redacted] for the same repair, we decided they lied to us and we did not ok the repair. If they had told me [redacted] at first we would have never towed the car up to them to get worked on and they knew that, that's why they lied about the estimated cost.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2016/08/23) */
When the customer called in for an estimate it was for timing chain only. Mr. [redacted] was informed at time of quote that it may need more than a timing chain. Cass County Tire cannot tell over the phone, nor by just looking at a car exactly EVERYTHING that is wrong, especially when there was internal damage. Cass County Tire was very fair in removing the new parts once the additional damage was found and only charging minimal labor. Unfortunately in this case Mr. [redacted] does not want to be reasonable. Cass County Tire will not be reimbursing Mr. [redacted]
