I just want to share an unpleasant experience with Cass Plumbing and Heating in San Diego CA
I had occasion to call a plumbing outfit to fix a shower fixture that no longer controlled the temperature of the water
Derek was sent out by Cass Plumbing and Heating after my call I met him at a gate to our unit complex As we walked to my unit, I mentioned that I usually meet workmen at the gate because finding my unit is a bit challenging His response (can't make this up) was, "I hate working in this complex." I should've just sent him on his way at that point, but figured he was young and maybe didn't realize the finer points of customer service He opened the walk in shower wall and found the "cartridge" inside, which he described as no longer viable, filled with sediment He called someone for a new part He informed me that the part was costing Cass $and he "didn't know" what Cass would be charging me for it when it was installed the next week
We agreed on a return date (Monday) for the cartridge to be installed I called Cass on Monday to secure the time when a plumber would arrive I was told that Derek was off that day, but Mike was availableMike came later that day He installed the cartridge and the water controls worked well
Later in the day, I went in to the shower and noticed flakes of the natural stone on the floor of the shower Looking around the "cartridge" covering, I saw several spots where a tool must've scraped the stonework I picked up the flakes and wrapped them in a tissue Unfortunately, my cleaning lady tossed the tissue out, since it appeared to be trash on the vanity
I called Cass and told them about the problem during a conversation I had with them over the price of the cartridge that they were charging me ($382.43) for the part which cost them $245, according to Derek I spoke with a lady who asked for me to send pics of the chips in the stonework I did that She also let me know that Cass was "discounting" my bill by $due to the apparent overcharge on the "cartridge."
Eventually, after calling again a week later, Jeremy (owner or manager) sent me an email essentially saying that neither Derek or Mike used anything other than a screwdriver (wow, that screwdriver Mike used sure made some racket) and both men said there is no way they caused any damages Case closed in his mind
I replied to his email, suggesting that asking the employees about the damage is probably the least efficient way to get the truth (Mike was the plumber who did the work when the chips were caused) and that I would be bringing this situation to our HOA, which lists this company as reliable Pretty remarkable to me that, as a recommended vendor for a complex of units, no offer to visually inspect the shower was made
I now have to call a grout repair company to reseal the areas that are now subject to water absorption (no doubt will be at least $100) and still owe Cass a total of $
I strongly suggest that the HOA review the decision to promote Cass Plumbing and Heating for our community I don't think they've earned it
