Castle Chevrolet North Reviews (%countItem)

On 11/12/19 I went to Castle Chevy because my vehicle check engine light along with a message indicating engine power was being reduced. I've also had issues with the gas pedal jerking which is a serious hazard. I notified John for the service dept. that this check engine light would come on often and the only way it would reset was by removing the battery cable and placing it back. John ran a diagnostic test and I was told there was a code being displayed for something wrong with the gas pedal and the throttle body. John also told me that the vehicle had a recall and that they would work on it. I showed John my extended warranty I purchased at the time I purchased the vehicle. I was told be John that he would have a mechanic check out the vehicle and he would get back to me to let me know if the warranty would cover it. John told me the process of them checking out the car would take 30 mins and I would be notified on what they can do. I told to waiting until they notified me what repairs needed to be done and then I would have a courtesy ride home to wait for repairs to be done. Unfortunately that was not the case. I waited for almost 2 hours before I decided to look for John and ask what was going on. John told me that the mechanic started working on my car and that the repairs would be done in about 30 more mins. I was upset at the fact they he did not inform me about what was going to be fixed and he did not bother asking me for my approval before beginning repairs. John also did not take into consideration that I wanted to get a ride from there customer courtesy vehicle to my home nearby but they also disregarded customer courtesy. After 3 hours of waiting I had to pay $160 for a throttle body cleaning. They did not ask me if a wanted to have it replace they just assumed I wanted to have it cleaned. Later on that night the same check engine light appeared and reducing of power also appeared. The vehicle is not repaired and was not checked properly. 2x Reportin

This is the 3rd attempt in trying to resolve the same car problem at this dealership. Dates of service were 11/12/19 and 11/21/19. I complained to Revdex.com on 11/20/19 and received a message from the GM indicating they would repair my vehicle with no additional charge. On 11/21/19 I went to the dealership to get my car serviced. Car repairs were made but a few days later the check engine light appeared again. I went to the dealership on 12/2/19 and got the check engine light looked at. The service person told me it was the same problem I went in for the first time. Air reduction in air intake. Repairs to the throttle body were made on 11/12/19. There is no reason why this should be occurring if it were fixed correctly. I shouldn't have to go to the dealership for the 3rd time for the same problem. Unacceptable.

Mr Rivera,

I have reviewed your complaint and found that you stopped into our Service Department on 12-2-2019 and spoke with my Service Manager, Zach Mulso in regards to your vehicle. I was told you were supposed to bring your vehicle back in today, 12-3-2019 to have it looked at again. At this time, 11:00 am you have not yet arrived.

We had set aside a loaner for you while your car is being looked at again.

As far as your request for a store credit of $2000 is concerned I will not agree to that. What I am willing to do is refund you the $160 you paid on your first visit to repair a different concern than the one your vehicle is having now, even though that issue was fixed.

With regards to your request for a new vehicle, you would have to contact General Motors Corporation. The manufacturer is responsible for the warranties on the vehicles they produce, not the dealership.

Sincerely,

Castle Chevrolet North LLC

David,

I have reviewed your complaint and have had our Service Consultant, John ***, attempt to call you to schedule an appointment to have you bring your vehicle back in to be reinspected. He was unable to reach you by phone and therefore emailed you as well.

We will provide you with a loaner car for this service visit as long as you meet our insurance requirements. Should we find that the repair you paid for did not fix the issue you were experiencing with your vehicle, we will credit the amount paid to any further repairs necessary to fix the problem. Our Service Manager Zach ***, will be happy to go over the vehicle with you to insure your satisfaction.

Sincerley,

Castle Chevrolet North LLC

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely,

David

Terrible customer service and very untrustworthy sales staff. We were lied to about what work had been completed on the vehicle.

Upon purchasing my car from Castle in March 2017 I was promised free oil changes and tires for the life of the care. 6 months later I called to schedule the appointment for my oil change was told that they do not offer that anymore. I was given no previous notice. I expressed my frustration to the company and they did not care and would not honer the deal even though I had a signed written agreement for that deal. They claimed it was costing them too much money and they would not honor it but would offer a reduced price. Upon speaking with other customers that experienced the same issue it appears that Castle used illegal bate and switch tactics. They need to be investigated and need to honor the free oil changes and tires for life agreement that they signed. Anything less than that is illegal and unacceptable. I am willing to speak to the media about this issue.

Stay away from this place

They bait and switch you. They have a link one there website that get you the trade in value powered by black book then when you arrive at the dealership to have your car looked at they throw kelly blue book value at you. So I had a tundra that I was gonna trade in on a tundra that they had. I get a email from there website after I punched in all my info about my truck and the value was $24,800-$26,433. I have the sale manager look at my truck and I look at there truck. They forgot to mention that the vehicle had dogs or pets in it even though I asked them a couple times about it through email. The rear seat had sand and dog hair in the seams and there was hair in the carpet and so on but what ever I was gonna make them detail it again till it was clean so I liked the truck and was gonna move forward with the deal when the salesman had me sit down and then he get the numbers for my trade in from the sales manager and the value they gave me was $19500 hahahaha where several thousand off the value they was generated by there website. So we do the back and forth game for a while and they top out at 21,677 a straight trade for there older and way more miles truck. How do you bait someone in with a value that is absolutely no where near the value that your actualy gonna give them. Stay clear of this dealership they play games and do whatever they can to make and buck and rob you all at the same time.

After servicing my vehicle at the Elk Grove dealership, I was not given a discounted price for the oil changes that were to be free as long as I owned the vehicle. I phone the service department and emailed the customer service rep, but have not received a call back. Castle's no response demands a low rating.

We bought 2 cars from them in 2017 and was told part of our deal was free oil change for life that we owned the vehicles. I went in there location in February to get my oil change to be told they no longer honor the oil change plan that GM took it away. That is not true, GM no longer does the two year plan with any dealers and that the deal that Castle Made with us had nothing to do with them it’s a dealer promotion and I feel the dealer should honor what they sold me. I’ve tried resolving it with them to be told they have a new oil change promo but I would no have to pay for it and I don’t thing that is far to us after we purchased a car and suv from them under my husband name Robert *** and Ann on one vehicle and Robert and Kalsey on the other vehicle. I no this might sound petty but they should have to honor what they promise. They also stated that they sent letters out to notify us, but that is not true I would think that I would have gotten one of them. I feel that if they don’t want to do it in the future they should start with not giving going forward to new purchases and honor there prior ones.

UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO MULTIPLE CHANGES IN GENERAL MOTORS REQUIRED OIL SPECIFICATIONS OVER THE YEARS, IT HAS BECOME NECESSARY FOR US TO MODIFY THE "CASTLE DIFFERNCE OIL CHNAGE PROGRAM". OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS, GM HAS MOVED FROM A CONVENTIONAL "LOW COST" MPTPR OIL TO A SEMI-SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL AND MORE RECENTLY A FULL SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL. AS YOU MAY OR MAY NOT BE AWARE, A FULL SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGE IS ABOUT TRIPLE THE COST OF A CONVENTIONAL MOTOR OIL. WHEN THE CASTLE DIFFERENCE OIL CHANGE PROGRAM WAS STARTED IN 2009 ALL OILS WERE LOW COST CONVENTIONAL OILS.

CASTLE ABSORBED THE INCREASED COST OF THE UPGRADE TO SEMI-SYNTHETIC OIL FOR THE BENEFITS OF OUR CUSTOMERS FOR MANY YEARS. DUE TO THE MOST RECENT CHANGE TO AA FULL SYNTHETIC OIL WE CAN NO LONGER FULLY ABSORB THE ADDITIONAL COST ASSOCIATED WITH THIS UPGRADE IN OIL QUALITY.

SINCE YOU ARE A LOYAL CASTLE CUSTOMER, WE WILL GRANDFATHER YOU INTO OUR NEW PROGRAM WITH A SPECIAL LOW PRICE OF $29.95FOR YOUR FULL SYNTHETIC ENGINE OIL SERVICE. THIS IS A DRAMATIC SAVINGS OVER OUR COMPETITORS AVERAGE PRICE OF $75.00 FOR A FULL SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGE.

WE TRULY VALUE YOU AS OUR LONG TERM CUSTOMER AND APPRECIATE YOUR BUSINESS NOW AND IN THE FUTURE.

*PRICE STARTS AT $29.95 PLUS TAX FOR MOST GM VEHICLES, UP TO 6 QUARTS OF OIL. DIESEL AND NON-GM VEHICLES PRICED SLIGHTLY HIGHER.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:this was never a GM offer it was the castle offer and that was told to me multiple times by there employee that they offer this oil change to keep there customers coming back. This offer was made to me at there castle location on a different vehicle I purchased in villa park in 2010 and when castle north was put in in 2016? They followed the Villa Park and Berwyn locations. My sister had her car since 2009 from Berwyn and was grandfather till she sold it this past month. I just feel they should honor there commitment to there customers and keep them loyal. I no for a fact that they have many customers angry for breach of commitment that they made. I was told that my sister told them at north that I was mad about it and they told her back well her and 10000 other are all to bad. Not very business like. I just want them to honor my contract. I pay for tire rotation every time I get a oil change. Maybe they shouldn’t have offer this to lure customers in. There offer of 29:95 is there new insentive program that there now offering to all customers. Maybe they should honor people before 12/31/17 purchase.

Sincerely,

Ann

I bought 2 vehicles here with an offer for free oil changes for as long as I own the vehicles. They are no longer honering their offer and say they can't do anything about it.

Unfortunately,
Due to the changes in the types of oil used in the vehicles today and their increased cost, we are longer able to continue our free oil change program. We do however, offer discounted prices on our oil changes for those customers that did purchase their vehicles from us. We do feel that although those oil changes are no longer free to our customers, the reduced prices we are offering those to them at will save them money over our competitors.

I had purchased a vehicle from this dealership. I had an other vehicle I was going to trade in. Transaction was complete and I took home the new vehicle. A few weeks later I received notice that my car payment for the old vehicle was past due. I explained to the lending company that that vehicle was no longer mine and was to be paid off by this dealership. I was then advised to contact the dealership about this issue. I Called the dealership and spoke with the general manager. The manger then told me he would look into the issue but explained that the had not yet paid of the loan on my old vehicle. I explained the loan company has threatened to report to the credit bureaus. The manager assured the issue will be taken care of. Now I have reviewed my credit report and my credit score has been lowered because The payoff on that vehicle was late enough for the loan company to report it. The car was eventually paid off. But too late in my sake because now I have a lower credit score. I have complained to the dealership but with no success or resolution.

Over the years I've taken my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer in for service, mainly for oil changes and diagnosing the odd sounds that develop on an older car. Last year I had the front and center differentials serviced by changing the fluid in each and specifically asked to have them check the rear differential, they told me the rear diff was "fine", full of fluid. Over the last year I had the engine oil changed three time and asked them to check the rear diff again each time and each time they said it was full. This Monday 9/25/17 a friend of mine (Certified Mechanic) helped me replace the rear diff fluid, a very easy operation, remove the full plug and remove the drain plug and replace and fill. (Takes 2 quarts)
When we tried to remove the fill plug it was so seized not even heat would loosen it up. There is no way the Castle Chevy service department ever checked the state of the oil nor the level.
We ended up taking the car to a specialty shop that deals with seized nuts and bolts, they ended up cutting the plug out piece by piece. Once the diff fluid was removed only one quart came out and was very dirty. The car has 140,000 miles and it looks like the diff fluid was never changed, and from the way the plug was seized it was never checked in the four times I asked that they check the state of the rear diff.
I will not be taking my car to this dealership again.
