CastleRock Pools, Inc. Reviews (3)

Hired this company in April to build my poolAlmost immediately every day had an excuse as to why he wasn't showing upMany of them were lies which I caught Brian inSuch as the walls had been shipped but not receivedI called the manufacturer and they had been on a pallet for weeks waiting for paymentExact same thing happened with the linerI ended up paying for the liner myselfBy now it is the end of June and I learned his crew had quit him because they were not getting paidI fired Castlerock and hired another company who finished the pool in days! They had received much more payment from me than work performed so had to take them to court and a judge ruled in my favorOn appeal, once again a circuit court gave me a judgementThis company is unprofessional, unethical, and I implore anyone wanting to build a pool they NOT use Brian *** or Castlerock poolsAs a side note, I also discovered Brian is a *** ***!!

Castlerock Pools finished our gunite swimming pool in December 2012. We thought it was beautiful and gave them great reviews. We believed Brian B[redacted] to be honest and hardworking. We are no longer of that opinion. In the spring we began to notice problems. Brian B[redacted] attempted to make repairs, but the weather turned too cold and he promised to return in the spring. He was scheduled to come out to our house on May 13, 2014. He never showed up and stopped returning our calls/texts. We have since discovered Castlerock installed our pool without pulling an electrical permit and that Brian's brother, Bobby, who installed the original electrical wiring on behalf of Castlerock Pools was not a licensed electrician. When we questioned them regarding the missing permit/inspection report, Bill B[redacted], owner of Castlerock Pools, told us Brian would be getting copies to us. This did not happen. Instead I came home one day in June, 2014 to find an electrician working on our pool. We failed our first inspection that morning. After our pool was supposedly finished, Castlerock apparently hired an electrician, had an inspection done, and then had the electrician doing work at our home without our knowledge and without anyone home. The electrician hired by Castlerock apparently attempted to make it look as though our pool's electrical wiring was appropriately grounded when it was not. We then failed our second inspection on June 19, 2014. In addition to not being grounded our pool had no GFCI protection until it was added on June 16, 2014. The pool was finished in 2012, but the electrical permit was not pulled until 2014!!! Our family and friends swam in a pool that was not safe for an entire summer. Every time we see a story about an electrocution or shock in a swimming pool we thank god for keeping us safe. We have now spent thousands of dollars to make our pool electrically sound and up to state and national electric codes. If that isn't enough, the plaster on the pool's interior was installed outside of manufacturer's temperature recommendations and is now flaking off as well as having a grungy appearance. The grout around the tile is falling out, pool is leaking, doesn't skim correctly, and the stone on the raised beam wall has a milky appearance due to use of incorrect sealer or being wet when the stone was sealed. We have since discovered our pavers weren't installed per guidelines and are sinking and the edges are falling off. They used the wrong material in the sub base and skipped one step altogether. Also, the sealer they used has caused the pavers to change color and retain heat. These issues are not warrantied by the manufacturer because there isn't a problem with the product, the problems arose when Castlerock failed to follow manufacturer installation guidelines. We have since found other complaints/bad reviews on Revdex.com Knoxville, Revdex.com Nashville, [redacted], and [redacted]. The TN contractor's board also has one closed complaint where they were fined $2500 and two open complaints. Brian B[redacted] told us he was a licensed general contractor with YEARS of experience. We now believe he was in prison from 1994-2011, not in Knoxville building pools with his father as he led us to believe. Not at all what we expected from a professional pool company that has been around for years.

My husband and I wanted to put a pool in our back yard. We spoke with several different companies about this decision, and ultimately decided to use Castle Rock Pools in Sumner County. We made this decision based on the level of professionalism and communication that we received initially. [redacted] was always available, and always willing to answer questions. His exact words were "I will diligently get your pool done." I asked him what "Diligent" meant to him and he said efficiently. We were told our pool would take 45 days, give or take a few days, depending on the weather. We began our pool on August 14, 2014. It has been one of the most unpleasant experiences that my husband and I have had to deal with, since becoming homeowners. We are very familiar with the was contractors work, due to the fact my husband owns his own residential construction company. [redacted] at Castle Rock Pools is by far the worse businessman I have ever had the misery of doing business with. He told us the first thing we would have is a schematic of what the pool would look like in our back yard. Did we get it? NO. He then began digging, and was ever present the first week or so. Then he only showed up when he knew that there was a payment for him in our mailbox. It was amazing to my husband and I because he did not hesitate to call and say we owed him another 10K, or 15K. We would almost immediately put a check in the mailbox for him. He would literally drive to get his check, and then not show up for 14 more days. [redacted] always had an excuse about the hold up. At one time he blamed the liner company out of Canada for the one month delay. My husband decided to call them himself, only to discover that [redacted] never ordered our liner. He was caught in multiple lies during this ongoing process of building my pool. Finally the liner was shipped, and it was put in. However it was wrinkled, and needed to be fixed on several places. [redacted] kept saying he would get to it when it warmed up. My husband happened to be speaking to someone at the City Hall one day and discovered that [redacted] never even pulled a permit or had my pool inspected. Something that my 40K+ was supposed to include. It is now March 30, 2015. My pool is not finished. We will NEVER recommend [redacted] and Castle Rock Pools to anyone. In fact, we wholeheartedly believe that any pool company is better than what [redacted] can offer you at Castle Rock Pools.
