I was recently visiting Glenwood Springs for business and was pulled over for a minor traffic violation Unaware of a recently suspended driver license my car was impounded My License was suspended due to an unpaid ticket for which I didn't receive any correspondence I was miles from home at the time of the incident After the impound despite inquiring about the process of getting my car back I was only provided a phone number by the tow truck driver Upon contacting the towing company I was informed I would need a release note from the Glenwood police I indicated I lived miles away and my inability to return for a few days (partially due to a closure of the Glenwood police) During neither interaction with the towing company (one of the conversations being with the owner "Will") I was NEVER notified of a daily storage expense The owner informed me when I arrived to pick up the car I owed $dollars for days storage He conceded he did not tell me about the e

I am rejecting this response because:The owners explanation of events is unbalanced and incomplete. Specifically with regards to my vehicle being abandond. One of the specific questions I asked at the time of contacting the business owner was whether or not it would be acceptable to pick up the vehicle the following week. As filed in  The initial complaint, the owner was not forthcoming about fees. The owner of the business intentionally withheld information about storage costs.  I strenuously object to the fee that was assessed, and the intentional  disclosure of fees for storage during our initial conversation.  At the time of tow  nor at the time of speaking with the business owner was I ever provided any detail of any kind about cost for storage. Finally, with regards to the  business' allegation that I paid with "exact change" that is categorically false.   The business owner aknowledges that he never disclosed the amount owed. Therefore how would I know the total cost? I did pay for the expense in cash and I was fortunate to have sold personal property the day befor or I would not have had cash available.

He was advised that when a vehicle was subject to a local police ordered impound for being driven with two months expired license plates and a driver with suspended driving license due to unpaid traffic tickets, the local police place a "hold order" on the vehicle which can only be released by the police department itself during their business office hours (m-f 8-5). At no point were fees inquired of only procedures.  No further contact with the owner occurred (to the point abandonment was being considered) until midday on 8/25/17.  At that time, the owner presented himself with proper documentation, insurance, registration, & operators license issued 8/18/17 to claim his vehicle. At that time, he was advised the fee of $465 for all services including storage was required, not his made up amount of $625 as charged. When he questioned the breakdown of charges, we explained the amounts and advised him of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission regulated charges which  are $205 base for one hour service (notice we only charged  $165 for service) and the regulated storage of $30 per day. After some requests for further reduced charges, (denied) he  offered up the exact change amount in cash for the bill. As though quite aware of what fees were likely.If one doesn't ask see the menu, one shouldn't complain about the table fare. Especially when offered at less than market value in the .
