On March **, 2015 I came home at approximately 6:30 pm to find a Collection Notification from [redacted]. in my mail. The amount due was $2,274.32. I immediately became worried and angry. I thought I only had one bill due with Catskill Regional. I receive this collection notification without being notified that this bill has been past due. I was extremely aggravated trying to find out how I would pay this bill before it affected my credit and without affecting my other monthly bill including my mortgage. I thought for first time in six years that I would have to miss my first mortgage payment. Being that I came home so late from work, I could not reach anyone. I worried all night, completely distracted from the attention my 2 year old boy was looking for. The next morning Saturday March **, 2015 my wife called and left a message, as of today March **, 2015 we still have not received a call back. So that Saturday I finally got in contact with an agent from [redacted]. She gave me the account number I couldn’t find in my medical files. She then told me this was for a service performed on July **, 2015, which was the day my son was born. I immediately review all of my bank statements for that month and the following month. I found out that I had paid the bill to another collections agency that Catskill Regional sent my bill to. Check Number [redacted] on July **, 2013. This was the same account I had talked to a rep from Catskill Regional about setting up payments so that it wouldn’t go to collections. The rep stated that it was all set up and just to keep sending the minimum we agreed upon. The following month I received a Collections Notification for the bill that was supposed to be set up for payments. I didn’t want my credit score affected so I called the collections department and paid the bill off with money I had saved.

I am trying to understand how a patient’s bill was sent for collections twice, even after the bill was paid in full the first time. Catskill Regional's accounts receivable lack leadership. Is it that there are too many supervisors looking to relax instead of doing their jobs? How is it that a bill is paid two years ago and it has not been applied? Is it that no one wanted to take the time out to balance this facilities check book? The idea must have been to send everyone’s bill out to collections and let the patient prove that the bill was paid. Fix this now. I allowed this bill to bring down my weekend because of laziness of a huge facility that overcharges to make healthy profits. My wife and I work hard to raise two children and we live paycheck to paycheck and we struggle. How is it that this facility can do this without a care in the world? I never even received a warning!!!! Don’t worry it gets better. I received a Notice of Debt dated February *, 2015 from [redacted] for a service performed on February **, 2013 in the amount of $211.00. I paid this bill on February **, 2015 in the amount of $218.50. I had to pay a convenience fee of $7.50. I paid it because I trusted a facility like this knows who owes what. I know I paid this bill in 2013 and I have to request statements from my credit companies that I will not request. I should not have to do more work than I need to because Catskill Regional won’t. The $218.50 needs to be returned to me ASAP and the collection for $2,274.32 needs to be closed. I am looking into legal action for this incompetence.Desired Settlement: Refund $218.50 ($211.00 Balance and $7.50 Fee) Paid to Capio Parteners Collections. And closed collections with MACD in the amount of $2274.32, this bill has gone to collections twice and was paid the first time.
