The customer brought the boat in on March 21st, and wanted it done the very next morning on March 22nd, because he wanted to go fishing the day of pick upI told him I would have it done for him by the next morning no problem and price quoted him off of the issues he told me about.
I was told from the customer that his boat was damaged from another boat mechanic prior to him coming into my shop He took it back to the other boat mechanic twice before coming to me because that mechanic couldn't fix it It is an older boat and had marks on it prior to coming into my store and we did not crack the windshieldIf we would have cracked the windshield we would have fixed it and informed the customer.
Once we started working on the steering, we realized that it was going to be more extensive than we had originally thought We worked late that night to fix it before the next morning, in order to have it done for him on time That night we worked past 11:00pm so I did not feel that it was appropriate to call him that late and discuss that it was going to be more in price because of the extra labor needed to fix his boat
In regards to the mounting of the Transducer on the back of the boat, it can be mounted on either side of the boatThe only stipulation is the distance from the propeller of the engine The Transducer was mounted correctly If he went out on the lake with the boat after I fixed it and had issues I was not made aware.
The next morning when he showed up his boat was complete, but he had to wait minutes because I was with another customer who had showed up before him He looked his boat over and told me it looked great, shook my hand, and drove away If he had any complaints, he did not voice any concerns with me because if he had I would have worked with him to correct his concerns The first time I heard of him being upset was receiving this letter from you and I was caught off guard
If there is anything else you need from me please let me know I appreciate your timeThank you,

Regards,
When I took the boat to him to fix it I had taken it to a different place 2 times and he still didn't have the steering wheel straight. After each time at the mechanic me and my friend wash  the boat, as we do even when we take it out in the water. And the other place put a nick in the dash. We washed it when we picked it up from him that's when it was brought to my attention the windshield was cracked. When I took the boat to him I wanted it done the same day the steering wheel being the priority. He said he would have it done by 9 am. And I asked him how much he said $25 for the steering wheel and $65 for the locater. I told him tops was $100 so if it was going to be more only fix the steering wheel. I had a witness along with me. He said no problem. I went their at 9 am and they were closed. He did not come their until 10 am. Good thing I had my dad with me because he said they had problems and the price doubled. I want my money back. I told him if it was going to be over $100 only do the steering wheel he never called me and I told him if it was going to be over $100 to only do the steering wheel. I also talked with other boat mechanics and all said they have never installed them on the left side of the motor. If the propeller spins clockwise it goes on the right. Cause I payed $**0 for a fish locater that still don't mark fish. These other mechanics said with it being a older fiberglass boat that he should of recommended a tranducer stern mount with that you don't have to put holes in the boat. I still need to pay someone to put the fish locater on the other side so I can mark fish and patch up the holes. And to get my winshield fixed. He just can't do work on someones boat without getting permission from the owner of the boat. I have witnesses that are willing to write what they saw and heard and also I can get a slip from other boat places that said it should be on the right along with quotes to fix the problems made by him. I specifically told him no more then $100. And on top of it he didn't even give me a receipt and I gave him the fish locater new in the box and no paperwork to register it. Very unprofessional . And I did not take it back to him, because when I took it their all he was worried about was my motor I am trying to tell him what I want and he kept cutting me off saying ooh what kind of motor is that and oh that's a nice motor. Also unprofessional .
