On November , 2019 CBL Path sent a bill to Cigna for payment. This was for an extra genetic lab test that was not needed and that I never authorized at the cost of $875.39. Because the Dr. Office that requested the lab test did not give me any price I called my insurance company and was told that the maximum out of pocket I would pay would be $275.00. Because I work in healthcare I ordered the slides and my Pathologist here at the hospital ran the testing After I received a bill from CBL Path I sent all supporting documentation disputing this billed amount. To date I have not received any correspondence from CBL Path other than several collection agency notices.
In response to ***s concern, I will outline the actions
that occurred with the date of service in question. On 11//2019, a thyroid
biopsy (FNA) was performed by her provider, Northeast Florida Endocrine and
Diabetes Associates and the specimen was sent to CBLPath for testing. Due to
the results of this testing, *** was advised by her provider that
additional testing would be required; this test is called ThyroSeq.
Before the ThyroSeq test is run, an estimate of the costs per the patients health insurance benefits is completed by CBLPath. We only proceed with the test once
we are given clearance from the referral team at Northeast Florida Endocrine
and Diabetes Associates. The estimate given to *** was $895.39.
On 12/*/2019, a faxed authorization (see attachment) was received from
*** to proceed with the ThyroSeq testing “STAT”. She also signed
the estimation worksheet. The testing was performed and the results would
have been subsequently discussed with her provider. In turn, CBLPath
billed ***s insurance, Cigna for both the thyroid biopsy (FNA) and the
ThyroSeq test; each are considered a separate service. We are a
participating provider with Cigna and are contractually obligated to bill their
member the amount specified on the explanation of benefits.Per the explanation of benefits, the service were covered and we billed as follows:- ***

that *** remains responsible for the balance of $875.39.Please contact me at if there are additional
