I purchased a dress, jacket, skirt, and earring totaling approximately $170 from this business on Saturday 11/7/2015. Upon arriving home, I unpacked my items and noticed the earring was defective and broken. I immediately called the store and informed the sales person of the issue, who indicated that the owner was out of town. The sales person asked me to come back, which I did however the store was closed. The next day, I attempted to call again, but the store was closed. On the following day I was able to reach another sales person who I explained the issue to. The salesperson indicated that the owner was still out of town, and suggested I wait until she returned to the store.I made another trip to the store and had to explain the issue to the owner, who indicated there was a no return policy. The owner indicated I can receive a store credit or make a purchase in the store, which I feel is wrong because the earring was defective which was no fault of mine.I completely understand having a no return policy; however when your merchandise has issues, this should not be the case. A business should stand by their products, and not force customers to spend more money in their store.How many people would do business with a company that does not stand by their products?Product_Or_Service: EarringDesired Settlementi would like a refund. She asked to received a 20% off discount prior to her shopping with us a couple of times before. The earring that she is speaking of, to have been defective/broken is not true. In the state that it was returned it would have been impossible for us both not to notice, especially when we had to remove from the display case for her to see and also package. However I do have policies printed on receipt, highlighted and reinforced by employee. Which states that All Sales Are Final.. Exchange or Store Credit Only, with original receipt, within 7 days of Purchases Excluding sale Items. These were the options that where given I even gave her the options to exchange getting something for greater value ($10) difference. The last options is not normally an option, just trying to please the customer, but realized that wasn't going to happen because at that point all she wanted was money back. My policies have always been in place from day one, and they are always stated to every customer before purchases. This had been her third time shopping at my boutique, she knew about my policy. If I bend for one customer I would have to bend for all. As a new business owner, I have to stand by my policy from the beginning.
