Review: Our hot tub heater went out so we looked through the phone book and found Cda Spas. We would have gone with a big name company but this guy came right out on a weekend so we went with him instead. He said the heater was bad and could fix it. The original estimate was around $300. Some things came up and the final bill was around $530. The guy was here at least three times to fix the heater. At one point between visits I opened the access door to look inside at what he had done and saw the electrical panel door was removed and the hardware that attaches the electrical panel to the hot tub was laying on the ground near it and the panel was loose. I asked him about it and he said when he got back into it he would put the electrical cover back on and reattach the panel. All of this becomes important later. He got the heater working and we paid the bill. 4 days later the hot tub caught fire and burned up ruining everything inside the exterior case. My wife killed the power to the tub and put out the fire before any damage was done to the house.I called him and told him there had been a fire and he came out and looked at it the next day. I never heard anything from him. I had also contacted the fire marshal who came out to look at the tub and said he would have to do an investigation so I decided to let him handle it.He said the fire was definitely electrical. He contacted this guy who proceeded to tell him that for the repair he was doing he didn't need to be in the electrical panel at all and therefore the fire couldn't be his fault. He and I both know he was in the electrical panel, so why would he lie to the fire marshal about being in it? I have no evidence of anything as my evidence is a melted puddle of plastic in my back yard. I consulted a lawyer who said I may have a case but without more evidence and a forensic analysis of the charred remains it would mostly be my word against his so I decided not to pursue legal action and am left with filing a complaint here.Desired Settlement: I would like the $532 dollars back we paid for his "work" minus a siphon we bought for $75 plus the value of the hot tub. Estimates of the value average $1550 for a total of $2005.
