Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: This is not what transpired The clinic had a written order to euthanize After I left the clinic the office manager who had spent a grand total of minutes with the dog that we owned for years called my wife to challenge the order to euthanize My wife started the conversation by stating that "we are trying to do what's best for the dog"...meaning being euthanized The office manager stated that she was 99.9% certain the vets would follow our written instructions, but in the event they wanted more info, they would call.No call was ever received and they voided our written authorization to euthanize The dog is now somewhere in Kentucky with a lady they found on the Internet How am I to know that she is not being mistreated? What will her ultimate home be? These are all issues I should not have to be worrying about. This clinics procedures regarding matters of euthanizing animals vsplacing in rescues is completely out of line With life/death situations with pets all directions must be written to avoid the nonsense we are being dragged through today. My initial request remains, return our dog Sincerely, Jim [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: This is not what transpired.  The clinic had a written order to euthanize.  After I left the clinic the office manager who had spent a grand total of 45 minutes with the dog that we owned for 10 years called my wife to challenge the order to euthanize.  My wife started the conversation by stating that "we are trying to do what's best for the dog"...meaning being euthanized.  The office manager stated that she was 99.9% certain the vets would follow our written instructions, but in the event they wanted more info, they would call.No call was ever received and they voided our written authorization to euthanize.  The dog is now somewhere in Kentucky with a lady they found on the Internet.  How am I to know that she is not being mistreated?  What will her ultimate home be?  These are all issues I should not have to be worrying about. This clinics procedures regarding matters of euthanizing animals vs. placing in rescues is completely out of line.  With life/death situations with pets all directions must be written to avoid the nonsense we are being dragged through today. My initial request remains, return our dog.

This complaint was assigned ID [redacted]. July 14, 2017   I just saw this for the first time today. I called your office and left a message regarding this. I would like to reopen this case and respond to these libelous accusations. I have met with Mr. [redacted] to go over everything. What was...

said to us (by Mrs [redacted])  “do whatever you feel is best for Zoey” gave us permission to look for an alternative to euthanasia (along with the conversation about those options with Mrs. [redacted] by our manager.) We were well aware of the behavioral issues. I would be more than happy to talk to someone at the Revdex.com about this issue. There is a lot of miscommunication. When an owner was recommended to go to a behaviorist to explore the issues, when this owner apparently spoke with a behaviorist who told them that there was no hope for Zoey (without seeing Zoey, without consulting us – the primary veterinarian), when the owner said it would take months to get an appointment with the behaviorist, when the owner finds out that we found a rescue group founded on the basis of behavioral problems and their assessment was positive (and Zoey is doing VERY well there) and NOW suddenly say that they want her back and will go to the neurologist for an MRI to rule out brain cancer and that will NOW go to the behaviorist and have all the examinations, treatments, etc. done (that we had recommended previously) is very confusing for me and the clinic. To post accusations on [redacted] (which was removed after we talked), to post accusations on Angie’s List (which I recently found out) and to post this on the Revdex.com site (which I just found out about today) and have Mr. [redacted] tell me he is using all this for leverage to get Zoey back is low. I will also send a response letter to this issue in my next e-mail.     I have been very open with the Vandrebeizens about Zoey but at this point, Zoey is out of my hands. Mr. implied that we stole Zoey and gave her to someone else. NOT TRUE. We were told to “do whatever you feel is best for Zoey”, had ownership given to us, we found an appropriate rescue and transferred ownership to them. Thank you very much for your help in hopefully resolving this issue.
