I used to live in Cedarwood Apartments in Gretna, La. I signed a lease from April 2012 to April 2013. While living there, I received one write up (that everyone in my building received as well) for hanging out and loud disturbance, due to my neighbors upstairs fighting. At the very end of August 2012, my neighbor from upstairs was shot downstairs not too far from my apartment. I went to the office inquiring about what would be the proper way to get out of my lease. When I spoke to management inside of the office, the leasing agent informed me that the property manager was giving me a 30 Day notice to evacuate, so if I wanted to get out of it, I would need to pay the balance owed of $148.00 and be out before September 1, 2013. I asked her for what...she told me because of the hanging out that was going on around my apartment. I informed her that I only received one write up and that the hanging out around my apartment was from the neighbors upstairs sitting on/around the stairs in front of my door (3rd time explaining this to them). Then I asked if I was to leave, would it show up on my credit report. She said no, when other properties call, they would be informed that I was let out of my lease n would not give a reason or a grade. So then I asked if I could get that in writing. She said yes, just pay the balance first and I would have to wait on the Property Manager to write up my move out papers and supply the 30 day Notice. I said ok, and I paid the previous balance that following Friday and was out of my apartment before the 1st. I turned my key in after the holiday when the office re-opened. I asked for my papers, she said they weren't done yet and that the Property Manager was backed up on work. I called and returned to the office five times and also spoke on three-way with the Property Manager and the Leasing Consultant, where the leasing consultant admitted to the conversation we held before I moved out. The Property Manager seemed disinterested and as if I was a problem. Finally the second week of December, I received a bill of $1010.50, after going to the office in person. I received no 30 day notice, no letter (that I asked for), my deposit was taken, and the bill is dated that I moved out 10/1/2013. I have called Investors Property Services (the property management company) and left two voicemails. NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK. I would like help solving this manner and I am not satisfied with the treatment coming from the management or the management company of Cedarwood Apartments.

I immediately called your office to rectify this issue requesting that you deduct my owed balance from the refundable portion of my pet deposit of $150 and send me the remained. Unfortunately, after several attempts to get this issue resolved I never heard anything from [redacted] regarding this matter. I am disappointed in Cedarwood Apartment because over the last two years of my residency at the Cedarwood Apartment, I feel that I was great tenant that didnt cause any problems. I was always timely with rent and patience with your continuous problematic maintenance issues in my unit. Now that I am trying to recover my refundable pet deposit and settle my debt with you all Im getting the run around from you and staff. One of the staff informed me that she could not find my file and therefore couldnt not verify if I had paid my pet deposit or not. That is unacceptable and unprofessional, its been two months later and Ive still never hear a response from [redacted]. I paid a refundable deposit of $150, a non-refundable deposit of $150 and a monthly pet rent of $20.Desired Settlement: I want the appropriate amount owed to me from my refundable pet deposit with my debt/balanced settled. Review: I moved out of my apartment with a zero balance and my apartment was in good clean condition upon my departure. I was asked to turn in my keys to the office and leave my new address which I did when I moved out on may 1st. After one month of no contact from Cedarwood apartment I called on June 6th and was told by phone I would not be reciving my 350.00 deposit back. I was denied my deposit and given fabricated reasons why it was with held. I still have not recieved my deposit or an invoice indicating exactly why deposit is being with held.Desired Settlement: I would like my 350.00 deposit back.
