Cee Jay Real Estate Development Corp Reviews (2)

Review: I purchased a home from this company in October 2014. The basement windows leaked in April 2015. Cee Jay attempted to stop the leak by siliconing the windows. It resolved two out of four windows. I ended up sealing the stone surrounding the windows as well as siliconing all grout joints around the stone. Only one window leaks. I tried to resolve this with the builder. It is obvious the one window is defective and not put in properly. Cee Jay Builders refuses to honor the one year warranty on the windows blaming the [redacted]. Two replacement window companies stated that this one window was not put in properly. The company Cee Jay refuses to take window out and install it correctly. It got to the point that the owner became very hostile on phone and text, that I felt intimidated to request he not contact me nor step foot on property. The cost of one window to replace is 580.00.Desired Settlement: Resolve the leaky window. I offered compensation to replace the window at my expenses. The company refuses.

Response:

First off I sent my workers on numerous occasions to attempt to seal a Leak that I cannot locate. Just recently I inspected myself and instructed home owner to open up Sheetrock where he claims its leaking and spray the hose on exterior wall to help locate the origin of the Leak - he refused and was adament about me replacing a window that in my opinion seems perfect. So unless homeowner desires to do the diagnostic test I require I cannot proceed any further. In addition the window is not warrantied by me, but my the manufacturer.thankyou for your time & understanding

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[I am not an expert repair person. I asked for his workers to come back. One worker to use hose to spray and another worker to view were water is coming in. Mr. S[redacted] stated he has 5 (five jobs ) going on at the same time and cant spare any men. This is very simple to resolve. I told him to send men back, open sheetrock, spray with hose, find leak, seal it, put sheetrock back and spackle and paint surface so it looked like it did before the leak. I told him if its not covered under warranty, reasonable bill me and I will pay him. Mr. S[redacted] is putting on a GOOD SHOW. He told me in one text that , " [redacted]". This means he cant loose money. I don't see how he will loose if I am willing to PAY TO RESOLVE THIS. What is he afraid of?

Response:

Not I nor my professional window installers drilled holes on the tip of windows as that would serve no purpose in addition. The windows never leaked for 6 months after home was purchased with sane situation - so when the homeowner gets his next heavy rain and it still leaks he will have satisfactions not knowing I was right and he would of been best served to just apologize for being rude and nasty anyway - matter is closed as we will not cover the expense as windows are warrantied by the manufacturer ([redacted]) - homeowner has the warranty on the package we gave them at closing peace and God bless and please leave me alone as again I was horribly mis-treated

I disagree. I was treated horrible by your company. I have a warranty you will not honor. You want the homeowner to do your work. The cause of this leak was from several vinyl siding slates not closed property. I located them andnailed them closed. I also sealed and capped a j channel that meets vinyl siding and stucco fascia. It appears with hose test, the water got behind siding and rain down into j channel and over flowed behind stone and holes a worker made in the windows he installed at my home made water to come in. There was a leak priorly. It appears that you man or men put these holes to relieve water pressure. The window has drain holes, but it's too much water from behind the stone to handle. Please remit $1080 for new windows. Thank you

Horrible! Stay away at all costs. Aron B[redacted], the 'Sales Manager', comes off as genuine and knowledgeable at first, however once you hire him you find out their 'crew' consists of a carpenter and 2-3 unskilled and undocumented laborers. All framing done is not flush, drywall joints are cracking after not even 6 months. They DO NOT clean up after themselves, and couldn't be bothered to even put up plastic when sanding drywall. The majority of the work including plumbing and electrical is all subcontracted out under the table. All their subs work day jobs and show up at your house at 7-8pm looking to finish work. Aron was not present on site for the majority of the time, and usually only showed up to collect a payment, which seemed to be whatever amount of cash he was short of at the time. At the start of the job we agreed to pay in 1/4 installments. This turned into 1k here, 3k there. Usually on very short notice. At the end of the job he came in with about 10K in bogus charges, including double charging for work already paid. In addition he tries to get you to pay NYS Sales Tax on a capital improvement job. I have heard from numerous employees that this is a scam and that they pocket the money. Looks like Aron has already been in trouble with NYS for working without a permit and continues to do so: [redacted]

The end result and product was decent, but it was not worth the hassle. If you do decide to hire them, make sure you read the contract and what is included thoroughly, because they will try to sneak their way out of any obligations if it is not explicitly stated.
