appropriate to forward the information to me. I met with the bride, groom and mother of the groom on 2 separate occasions for complimentary personal tastings. The first tasting I personally delivered to their home as I had not opened my business officially yet. The second tasting was held after hours in my shop within first week of opening. I felt we made every effort to accommodate the customer as we lowered our price to reflect the original business owner since this was the first point of contact they had made and I felt it would be unfair to charge them my prices. I also discounted the delivery fee to $30 and even provided the bride and groom with one layer of the cake free since we wanted them to have something to set up high and cut into. The bride signed our contract on July 23, 2015, with the groom and mother of groom present. We agreed on a delivery time of 5:30 at that point. I was notified some weeks later that they would like to change the delivery time to 7pm instead. This is way out of normal business hours and I spoke in detail with the mother of the groom, (who was my main contact at this point), to explain a conflict in my plans that evening. I inquired if she was comfortable with me hiring the old business owner who had many years of delivery and cake experience to deliver their order and she gave me consent to do that. I did not for a moment think there would be a problem as this had been their initial contact and also with so many years experience. The order of 250 cupcakes and cake was to be delivered an hour and a half away. My delivery person stated he did arrive at the venue 35 minutes early as he was unfamiliar with the location. He did not realize it would be problematic to start set up a little early as he had to walk many flights of stairs with the 9 boxes and also cake. He stated to me that he did ask if any of the gentlemen would be willing to help carry in the boxes and that at first everything was seemingly ok. Once he started set up and the mother of the groom realized he was 35 minutes early, a verbal altercation ensued to the point my delivery driver states he felt threatened. I was not there and apologized immensely upon receiving one of the most verbally profane and aggressive phone calls I have ever received from the mother of the groom. I apologized again and again only to receive more profane language and did ask if we could speak once she had calmed down. I suppose I was a bit intimidated and overwhelmed with the behavior and did ask the mother of the groom 2 days later to only contact me via email or text communication.I feel I did everything in my power to accommodate the customer from beginning to end. I do apologize completely for any hardship the party encountered. In the contract signed by the bride on July 23, it does state in section 2 and 3 the following:2. We must receive the balance due 10 days prior to your event date or this contract is null and void and deposit will not be refunded.3. The date for final payment is the final date for any changes to your order.Again, I do apologize completely but do not feel a refund is warranted as the product was discounted already, delivery had been made at a discounted rate with a mutual party we both agreed on, and I turned business away for that weekend to ensure the quality of the product they had ordered since it was a large order.
