My elder mother bought a cell phone in Waxahachie, Texas on March 3, 2014 at a Verizon store and bought insurance for the phone. She was told that if anything happened to the phone that it would be covered. Meanwhile, they have been taking the payment out of her checking account every month for the insurance on the phone. Well in August 2015 her phone was lost or stolen while in the hospital in Texas. During this time she moved to Muncie, Indiana to be cared for because she can no longer live on her own. My sister who lives in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma took my mother, while moving her to Indiana from Texas, to a Verizon store in her town to get a replacement phone for my mother and they told my mother there was no insurance. She went ahead and paid for a phone out right and it was sent here to Indiana. I was checking my mothers Bank account and there was an amount being taken out every month from ESH*TECHPROTECT for $6.99 then it went up to $7.58 in July 2015. I called Verizon and they called them and then told me they are a 3rd party and has nothing to due with Verizon and that they should refund all money back to my mother. I called the 3rd party insurance company on September 10, 2015 and spoke to Kayla who informed me that they are not going to refund any money or replace the phone because she did not report it at the time it happened. Well it was reported to Verizon and my mother was told when she bought the phone that she only needed to report anything to Verizon not a third party. My sister and I feel that our mother has been scammed and want to report it.
