Hi, I did this job last year and received an A rating by the complainantShe called me this spring and told me she had white sm on the brickI explained that it could be efflorescence, naturally occurring salts and minerals in the brick or mortar or salts from using a de-icer containing salts
and calcium could have caused the stainingThe complainant became verbally abusive and stated she did use de-icer but it was my faultI would have gladly worked to resolve this issue however she was rude and threatening to destroy my hard earned A rating (based on almost jobs completed on *** List for over years.) I will not succumb to threat of allegations by such a personI have attached pictures of the work for your consideration, thank you for your time*** ***

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ***.In ***'s response, he indicates, "The original blue stone had the joints line up with the stepsAccording to bonding rules, the vertical joints are to broken ( half bond) so I laid the stone that the border joint would fall in the middle of the stepsThe next day *** told me that I was wrongI explained the bonding and she insisted that I change itI said ok and removed the granite and laid out the stone with a larger piece spanning the steps and cuts on the end with *** and she approved the new layoutI then purchased new granite cut and set the stonesThe next day, ***'s partner condescendingly told me that the stone was wrong ,even though , *** had approved the new layout the day beforeshe told me she would reimburse me the cost of one stone( which she never did.) I then ripped out the old stone and set new ones."Please note that *** did measure out the stone and by the way he explained it to us, they would have been laid evenly; however, they were not centered which is why we requested that he fix it*** was not happy about this decision, but agreed to do soWe also agreed to pay one half of the cost of the stone which we didThe initial proposal was for the amount of $We paid the first half upon the start of the job ($1750)Upon completion, we paid an additional $bringing the final payment to $(Grand total of $3560)Please see attached proposal and check images.*** did come back to drill weep holes as stated; however, they were not in addition to existing weep holesIn fact, the weep holes are now causing a white stain on our bricks. He also states that he came by on Wednesday, 4/25/2018; however, I work from my home office and did not see him. If he did come by, he did not make an attempt to ring the doorbell or call me. When I called *** on Saturday, 4/28/2018, I did not yell at him as he stated. He began yelling and swearing at me almost instantly.I really just want this job fixed, but I get the feeling *** either 1) Does not know how to correct the issue, or 2) does not care to correct the issue. Please see the attached pictures and email correspondences. The pictures show last summer when I first brought the issue to *** as well as pictures from April and May of this year.I am in the process of hiring another contractor to fix the job which is going to cost another $Regards,

Upon completion, both complimented me on the quality of the workAbout a month later, *** called and told me that the stone looked "wet." I took a look and told her that granite is a dense? stone and that the dislocation was probably due to the new roof that had be recently installed and that the discoloration would fadeAs a precaution, I drilled more weep holes*** contacted me about the joints, I told her that I would call on Friday and take a look over the weekendThe Wednesday prior, I was in the area and went to the jobI didn't see any discoloration or any problems with joints, I took pictures , see attachedI worked late on Friday evening and received a terse message from *** that I was supposed to call her, The next morning about am , *** calledI told her that I went by on Wednesday , she then started to yell at me.? Celtic masonry's? and my personal motto is "by the work, one knows the workman." I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. Dear Sir or Madam,Thank you for processing my complaint against  Celtic Masonry. My husband and I are unsatisfied with the respond of Celtic Masonry to our complaint. There are several false statements [redacted] included in his respond. He wrote that I "called (him) this spring". In fact, neither I nor my husband ever called him or talked to him this year. All communications between us were via email. (All his and my emails are stored and available for review.)  Also, none of the following statements in [redacted]’s response are true: "complainant became verbally abusive and stated she did use de-icer but it was my fault. I would have gladly worked to resolve this issue however she was rude and threatening to destroy my hard earned A rating". All I wrote to [redacted] was my question how to get rid of the white scam that appeared on the steps he made for us 10 months ago. [redacted] advised me via email to clean the sm with water and stiff brush. As the sm reappeared even stronger after we had cleaned the steps, I let [redacted] know by email about this unfortunate result. [redacted]'s respond (via email) was: "The simple solution is take it off with a stiff brush but you have been rude and a bully.  I hope you find peace but I'll not work with you again. ", "I don't think you are good person and would never suffer you again".After getting this inadequate and abusive respond from [redacted], I emailed him about our intention to file complaints with [redacted] List Complaint resolution team and Revdex.com.  [redacted] emailed me back "do what you think you have to". That was the end of our communication. I believe, in his claims to you about me being "rude and a bully" or "verbally abusive", or " threatening", [redacted] confuses me for another his customer(s). Some of [redacted] List reviews on this business state that [redacted] confuses some of his customers/ jobs for other his customers/ jobs.According to all three masonry companies we invited last month for inspection of  the steps, the white sm is not be the result of using ice-melt, as [redacted] claims in his response. If the sm is from the ice-melt used in winter, it would be easily cleaned by water. However, the white sm on our steps re-appeared even stronger after cleaning with water. Moreover, the white sm covers not only front, but also both sides of the steps (pictures attached). There is no way the small amount of ice-melt used only on the granite landing of the steps could reach the bricks on both sides of the steps, from the top to the bottom. We were told by several professional masons that the white scam on our steps is the efflorescence, which is a result of poor masonry job by Celtic Masonry. The efflorescence is a result of a moisture inside the masonry structure. [redacted] might put bricks around the cement foundation while the foundation was still wet, or/and he might not seal the masonry (so water can enter the structure), or/ and he used a low quality sand contaminated with alkali sulfate. For references, please see the information about causes the efflorescence.[redacted]
[redacted] My husband I expect Celtic Masonry to respond adequately to our complaint. Please let me know if I can forward you my email correspondence with [redacted], or provide any additional information. Thank you.[redacted], [redacted].
