In response to a complaint received by a prospective renter
The applicant is correct:
*The applicant did apply for a nicely priced apartment unit, a poplar option for many tenants in the area
* The applicant did state he was
suffering health issues, and that, because of his health, he wasn't able to keep up with bills, but stated that it wouldn't be an issue for his rent as his father would be cosigning on the lease agreement and aiding in the payment of rent.*Our company did seek the credit information of the applicant, not an uncommon practice when applying for a rentalOur company is concerned about who we choose to rent to, as our owners have entrusted us to find the best tenants for their properties
*The applicant did put his father's contact information down on his application, in addition to again stating that his father was going to be a cosignerThe prospective tenant actually wrote on the application that this would be the case During the application process our property manager did contact the applicant’s father, as all references are contacted from the applications It was also a request to have financial information from anyone who would be a cosigner, i.ethe father When contacting the father, the father became very upset that his son had represented that he would be a cosigner The father stated that he had zero intentions of being a cosigner, and the conversation was endedWhen the property manager contacted the applicant about the conversation with the father the applicant began to yell at our property manager, furious that she had contacted his father prior to him being able to get his father’s permission Our property manger continued to act in a professional manner, and agreed to allow the applicant time to speak with his father, and that she would not contact him again until he had a chance to do soShe apologized because, based on their conversations she had every reason to believe that the applicant’s father was aware of the situation During the time when the applicant was reaching out to his father and working out other discrepancies on his application, several other applicants applied for the apartment unitThe additional applicants had more complete and accurate applications and better rental and credit histories Another applicant was chosen for the unitWhen a prospective tenant receives an application from us, we emphasize that they need to fill the applications out as completely and accurately as possible We also recommend that the tenant contacts all the individuals on the reference parts of the application because we contact them all One of the frustrations is leaving messages for the references and the references never call back Tenants have been turned down when the references are unable to be contacted
The applicant lied on his application and provided and misleading information In addition he acted in a manner which was considered inappropriate to the property manager His inability to tell the truth and remain courteous when things didn’t go his way caused him not to be selected as a tenant His health issue was never a determining factorHad he not written on his application that he had health issues we would never even have know about them nor would we have asked

I am rejecting this response because:
I never lied about a single thing on my application nor did I act inappropriate in any way shape or form--They got the attitude back that was given to me, nothing more , nothing less This is a perfect example of how this business operates--not to mention their inability to write with proper grammarI stated that I was having a "little bit of trouble" with my bills on my application due to unforeseen medical costs This was blown way out of proportion and I was not comfortable providing my them with my credit information as I did have the means to check it myself at the time Never in my life have I ever been asked for a credit check on an apartment or leaseInstead of basing my application on my merit, they were working against me I merely had not been able to get ahold of my cosigner (who had been traveling out of the country) and this business was completely jumping the gun on contacting him in the first place instead of looking at my actual referencesWhen is family member ever a reference? It had never even been deemed that they would request a co-signer for the lease and I thought it would help my cause as this person has been happy to cosign a lease for me in the past while in College
The younger woman working for this business was doing nothing but giving me judgmental looks the entire time while rushing through the interview as if she had already made up her mind I FELT LIKE I WAS TREATED WITH COMPLETE AND TOTAL CONTEMPT BY THIS YOUNG WOMAN SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE DID NOT LIKE ME FOR WHATEVER REASON When I came back to drop off my application she gave me a dirty look, didn't even say hello, and made me sit there while she treated me with complete disdain All of her so called "politeness," was nothing a passive aggressive attitude, and an obvious attempt to ruin any chance I had of getting the apartment
If anyone one is lying, it is this business THEY NEVER ONCE SPOKE TO MY FATHER ARE LYING IN THEIR RESPONSE WHILE BASISING IT OFF OF THE FACT THAT CALLED THEM ON THEIR COMPLETE AND UTTER *** THIS LINE IS A COMPLETE AND TOATAL LIE!!! : "When contacting the father, the father became very upset that his son had represented that he would be a cosigner The father stated that he had zero intentions of being a cosigner, and the conversation was ended." NEVER ONCE DID THEY SPEAK DIRECTLY TO MY FATHER/ POSSIBLE CO-SIGNER THE ONLY COMMUNICATION THEY HAD WITH MY FATHER WAS VOICEMAIL AND THEY ARE TWISTING WHAT HAPPENED WITH LIES
In their response these people even have the audacity to lie about contacting my references saying "One of the frustrations is leaving messages for the references and the references never call back Tenants have been turned down when the references are unable to be contacted
One of the references I gave was extremely close with the manager ( and told me that they would put in a good word for me) and there is no way they were not able to get in touch with this person You people make me sick and I have no idea how you sleep at night This business is filled with a a bunch of judgmental, paranoid people that care only about lining their pockets with your money Do not rent from these people!
I am insulted by your response and quite taken back that you think you are justified in the way I was treated What goes around comes around folks!!! BAD BAD JUJU
