Review: We recently closed on a beautiful Centennial Home located at [redacted] on October 25, 2014 using Veteran Administration (VA) benefits. Shortly after moving into the 4 (four) year old home, we observed that the first floor master bedroom [carpeted] floor had profound sloping and rising elevations. In many areas of the room a sinking, unstable feeling is experienced when the floor is being walked upon with a normal gait. The floor is so weak that it causes the furniture in the bedroom to move as one walks by. During the home inspection process, by [redacted], a flooring problem near the hallway bathroom was discovered and repaired. There is obviously a sub-floor problem that was not pointed out during the home inspection process by [redacted] has performed a re-inspection of the bedroom floor and we are awaiting the written report. This problem seems to be a design or faulty material issue or the house has sustained water or other damage which was not properly addressed when it occurred. It is our understanding the home may be covered under a 10 year structural warranty. If so, we would like to see this honored by Centennial Homes. A letter was mailed to Centennial Homes on November 26, 2014. We've yet to receive a response. We've hired a structural engineer to access and document the damage. He documented, "the humps do not appear to be structural and may just be the floor joist installation." He adds, "the bouncy floor is the result of the floor joists being at the limit of their allowable spans and deflection (sag)." To bolster the floor may cost thousands of dollars. We will hire a contractor to obtain an estimate.Desired Settlement: First, we'd like to hear from Centennial Homes. If the home is covered under the 10 year structural warranty, we'd like to see this honored by the company or some assistance to correct the problem.
