I am rejecting this response because: Mr*** responded to the Revdex.com complaint with a letter dated 7/12/ I responded to his assertions in a letter dated 7/27/2016, which was received by his company on 7/29/ I listed the reasons why I thought that there was a reasonable chance that I would prevail in litigation and suggested a compromise of $2, I do not know if his response to you is before or after the receipt of my letter of 7/27/Contrary to his assertion that the heating company tech used specialized equipment to find the cracked heat exchanger, it required opening only one panel However, even if specialized equipment would have been required, the tech was searching for why the furnace was not operating according to manufacturing specifications and then found that the heat exchanger was cracked It would not have required the use of "specialized equipment" for Mr*** to have made the simple determination that the furnace was not operating properly Supposedly, according to ASHI ethics, Mr*** is to perform inspections only if he has the knowledge to properly assess the equipment If he does not know whether a furnace is operating according to the manufacturer specifications, he should have either not agreed to perform the inspection or he should have noted that on the report, which he did not. I also am insulted by his assertions that (1) the heating company used the maintenance contract review as a chance to sell a furnace and (2) that I only replaced it because I thought that Mr*** would pay for it I have used the heating company for over years to serv*** my furnace and evaporative cooler at my prior residence They always treated my fairly and never took advantage of me For example, there was a problem with the evaporative cooler one month after the year warranty expired They repaired the cooler and did not charge me even though they could have Last year, I wanted to replace the evaporative cooler with A/C, they told me that my house layout was not compatible with A/C and gave me several less expensive options to consider.With regard to the reason why I had the furnace replaced, it was because the serv*** tech told me that the furnace should not be operated in that condition I had the new one installed for my safety, not because I expected Mr*** to pay for it

The heating company found what appears to be a crack in the back of the heat exchanger of Ms. [redacted]'s furnace. This component of a furnace is specifically excluded by the Standards of Pract[redacted] of the American Society of Home Inspectors. The heat exchanger is excluded because of the concealed...

nature of this part. The heating company was called to serv[redacted] the furnace and write a serv[redacted] contract. That was their opportunity to examine this individual component in great detail. They found that small defect in a very difficult location with specialized equipment. That was their chance to sell a furnace and, for good measure, replace the seven year old air conditioner. Ms. [redacted] authorized this since she was under the mistaken impression that I was paying for it. In our last correspondence I urged Ms. [redacted] to file a small claims action. If this case is reviewed in that venue I believe that I will prevail.
