Recommended insulation & Sealing of home caused conditions that directly, significantly (if not entirely)produced left me with a wet attic. The moisture whether condensation or infiltration (due to ice damns caused by lack of ventilation from restricted bays full of insulation ((rear dormer , closed end specifically were the bulk of the interior damage (drywall ceiling and walls need replacement, localized)is. Prior to the Jan 2014 service attic was dry, This past month after initial inspection by me since then, the attic was very wet , mildew, mold, etc. , the entire rear dormer deck. No change in interior conditions to warrant infiltration of heat to attic. CET did the assessment, directed the contractor at every facet of the service and finally inspected the job multiple times. CET has deflected responsibility to the contractor who followed al CET's recommendations, procedures, material selection and met with CET's final inspection.Desired SettlementReimbursement for damages to the roof not covered by Home Owner's Policy. To include: Full cost to replace all rear dormer decking Reimbursement ( ~ $1300.00), any additional ventilation labor and materials to insure conditions that caused issue have been resolved (unknown at this point)and a prorated cost to ensure the integrity of the complete re-roof job for the main house component ( ~ $6000.00). the total cost to re-roof the entire house incl. garage is $14,200.00 + plus with at least 10-15 yard left on the single shinglr layer.Business Response Our Home Energy Services staff were recently informed of this concern. We are investigating the specifics of the situation and will respond to the parties in a timely manner.Consumer Response [redacted];This case is not closed as I am waiting on the following:1. Final report from Civil Engineer (MA licensed) regarding root cause (any day expected)2. With that, Insurance Company Response to calculate what portion of the roof replacement (currently none) is covered for Mold/Mildew damage (Dormer decking primarily)Once I have that I will provide you and the local State Attorney General's office in Northampton with the documentation to get this resolve. [redacted] has made an offer to settle as he stated after an inspection that he indemnified CET under the terms of his contract with them. My contract that I do not have the back with the terms does allow for arbitration to settle.I will get back to all involved ASAP.Thanks,[redacted] MA XXXXX[redacted] (C)[redacted] (O)[redacted] (F)Internal: [redacted] Final Consumer Response [redacted], what is mildew and or mold laden is covered under my policy and I expect that portion of the complete job to be paid for. The decking I can see from the access door is black and rotting and will be removed as a best construction practice. I have two claims active and will file again with the Revdex.com and State Attorney General (CPA) with [redacted] Insurance listed to get what I am due under the terms of my Policy. I will forward a hard copy of this and all correspondence to the Local CPA Office by hard copy as well.[redacted]Final Business Response CET has now had an opportunity to visit and re-inspect the site. A review of the information gathered by CET field staff does not support what we understand to be Mr. [redacted]'s theory, specifically that attic ventilation was compromised by the [redacted] insulation work. Overall, we find no basis whatever for CET's liability in this matter. We understand that Mr. [redacted] is frustrated by his insurer's response to his claim against them, but that does not make CET (or the independent insulation contractor) any more liable. Thus, on the facts as we presently know them, we are not prepared to offer Mr. [redacted] any form of settlement.
