We are in receipt of the complaint filed by Mr*** on behalf of his wife regarding money collected during a recent office visit at our Center. After reviewing the account it was noted that the patient presented with her medical insurance which requires a $co-payment. In addition
$was collected for the refraction fee which is not covered by the medical insurance. It was later noted that Mrs*** had a vision plan, EyeMed. We subsequently billed the vision plan and received received payment which was posted Friday, 11/3. We have issued a refund check to Mrs*** and it will be mailed out today (11/06/17). In the complaint the patient states that he was billed for a lasik consultation. However, when the patient called to schedule to appointment, he scheduled a complete exam for a new patient and not a lasik consultationA thorough past medical history and review of systems was
performed along with corneal topography and a complete eye exam (vision, pressure, ocular adnexa, anterior segment slit lamp, and dilated fundoscopic exam). He was diagnosed with early cataracts and dermatochalasis. The patient did express in interest in lasik and we discussed vision correction options including lasik and refractive lens exchange. The patient was billed appropriately for the services that he scheduled and received and is requesting a refund. To be clear, the insurance paid nothing and applied the in network write off to the charges and instructed us to bill the patient the balance as it was applied towards his deductible. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I still contend that I asked for a free Lasix consultationI would not even know what an eye medical exam isThe only kind of eye exam I ever had told me if my vision had changed, if I needed different prescription for glasses of contact lensesNone of that was doneAgain, how would I have known to ask for an eye medical exam? And by the way my health insurance was charged - not my vision coverage
I don't have any proof of what I asked for as it was by phoneI can only stand by my comments above

A majority of people who work here are very rude and condescending to patients/customers They speak over people, disconnect calls during discussions, and refuse to acknowledge their patients/customers are their bread and butter I have cancelled all future appointments after years, and a great relationship with Dr*** thanks to the very rude behavior of Heather and Daphne

Review: I received a pair of glasses that I could not see out of and returned them within the correct amount of time and I am still waiting for the return of my money. It has been a little over 2 months,I have been back 3 times to check the progress and every time I get a new story about how they have turned it into the person who takes care of the returns and it should be in the mail soon.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back so I can get a new pair of glasses.

We are in receipt of your letter regarding the above mentioned issue. It is our office policy to provide a full refund if the patient is not satisfied with their glasses within 30 days of purchase. There are stipulations if the glasses are returned after the initial 30 day period. I have attached a copy of our policy for your review.

In reviewing this particular case, I did find that the patient had requested a refund within the 30 day period. It was noted a refund was in process, but further investigation revealed that the process was not completed.

I have initiated the final steps for the refund and the patient should be receiving it within 2-3 weeks.
