Dear [redacted]:
My name is [redacted] and while I am not legally affiliated with Centex CTI, I purchased the CTI dealership for my partner [redacted] who is the sole owner. I am answering Revdex.com Complaint ID: [redacted] ([redacted]). There are many inaccuracies in this complaint. The customer did NOT...

"oblige to everything" as stated and did NOT pay $5,000 up front. The refrigerator was supposed to have been out of the kitchen and my workers helped the customers remove both doors to the refrigerator and the door that it went out through and helped move it out. There was no extra charge for this help. You can see from the enclosed contract that the total price of this job was $4,481.97 and this is paid half at the start of the job and half upon completion. It was NEVER claimed that this job would be "easy" or "quick" and although the customer was told it should be completed in 3 days there is never any guarantee on completion time on ANY home improvement project and that is clearly covered in our contract signed by the customer. As far as "easy" goes, this type of flooring requires multiple applications of expensive products and/or chemicals, and each application must completely dry before the next is applied. Drying time was the cause of the ONE extra day this job required, and since the job began 7/1/13 that extra day fell on July 4th and I paid my workers additional wages to go finish the job on Independence Day to limit the inconvenience as much as possible. I want to address the "horrible" job of cleaning up and the part where the customer complains "there's no way I can forget to mention the $200 we received to repaint and fix areas THEY messed up... .ourselves!" I work a full time Monday through Friday job in the legal field but after completion when the customer called back with the clean-up complaint I came to see for myself the problem. One complaint was that a dirty rag was left in or around the bathroom sink (OMG!) and they had already picked it up and carried to a trash can and dropped it in apparently (OMG!). The other complaints were where a worker who was supposed to take a pencil and mark on the top edge of the several interior doors that had to be removed, where they came from so they would be replaced correctly, instead marked in light pencil on the face of the door.

The husband was always pleasant and easy to work with from my limited dealings but the wife always had an insolent attitude that I found offensive.
During the week of January 6th thru 10th the husband contacted me and told me about the problem that was occurring 5 months later. We spoke for awhile on the phone and I told him that I worked 8 to 5 Mon-Fri but needed to come see the problem myself. I told him
I couldn't come that weekend, but although we had family plans the following Saturday
and Sunday, Monday January 20th was MLK Day and I was off and would come then. This shows yet another "untruth" in their complaint--well, let's just call a lie what it is—a lie. I very specifically explained to the husband that I would definitely take care of the problem but that I had just finished an entire home interior that ended up having to be completely removed and replaced costing me thousands and that as much I would like to immediately repair his floor there was NO possible way I could until I got some money back into the business account. I told him that we had had great success with outdoor jobs (driveways, walkways, poolsides, patios, etc.), and so due to the indoor fiasco we had just completed and now his problem popping up 5 months later, I would only be doing exterior work in the future. I went on to explain that warmer weather would be necessary to do that and gave him a SPECIFIC time range of 90 to 180 days to correct his problem. This was all said during that phone conversation one of the days of the week of Jan. 6-10. Husband called me either Friday the 17th or Saturday the 18th to confirm and I did confirm I would be there in the noon to 1 pm time frame on Monday the 20th. We showed up and looked at the problems. I had been told there was chipping in the kitchen and living room and that was checked first. I was shown one chip in the kitchen floor approximately one quarter inch wide by one half inch long to the best of my memory—it was very small. We looked in the living room to the extent of the wife moving a chair but were not able to find a chip. There is of course no way for me to know what occurred in 5 months but the kitchen chip appeared to me to be caused by something sharp, heavy, or both hitting the floor. That can damage ANY floor surface whether tile, slate,
laminate, hardwood----whatever, but I planned to repair it for them. The "bumps'. or "bubbling" problem was limited to the two back bedrooms and I estimate

Today is March 21st so in 6-7 weeks he would've had his flooring fixed free. Now he is going to pay for his flooring. I called him yesterday to inform of this and of course his last statement was "You'll be hearing from my lawyer!". He must not know but he will soon find out that there is a fee to file. Because of my regular job I have several attorneys (VERY good ones!) who will gladly handle fighting this for me PRO BONO. If he is not in that position, he knows lawyers aren't cheap!
