Central Appliance Parts & Repair Reviews (1)

Review: In August of 2012 our [redacted] 30” double wall oven stopped working. As a result, we called [redacted]) to see if they could diagnose the problem over the phone. They could not, and instead, gave us a list of [redacted] repair people they recommended in our area.

Among the list was Central Appliance Parts. They came, assessed the problem and charged us over $1000 for parts and labor to fix it. To replace the ovens would’ve been closer to $3000 or $4000. Fortunately parts and labor were guaranteed for 1 year as written on our receipt.

Eleven months later the oven started to go again, so we called Central again and he came out. But he could not replicate the problem without food in the oven, because the steam rising off of the food is what is causing the control panel to fail (same as a year ago). So apparently, a year ago, he should’ve also addressed the seal, but did not.

So, he claimed that everything is working and that he cannot return the parts, because they are functioning. But for an oven not to function properly when food is in it (the normal use for an oven) should be in violation of the guarantee and thus covered.

He told us to take it up with [redacted]. So I did. Now this might be hard to believe, but when I reported the issue to [redacted], they told us that the repairman was NOT a certified [redacted] repairman and that they would not cover the issue. We reminded them that THEY were the ones who gave us this name and they denied it! Telling us to take it up with Central.

I immediately asked to speak to the highest ranking supervisor who told me the same thing, and if I wanted, I could write corporate to complain, but they weren’t going to do anything to honor their own mistake. Even though they had a record of our call to them a year ago!

Upon calling Central back, they refused to take ownership of the problem and said they would charge us for any additional work on the oven. Not honoring their guarantee.

Additionally, the constantly rude and useless receptionist accused us of fraud, saying it was suspicious that the oven just happen to break again right before the guarantee expired.

What kind of service is this? I STRONGLY urge you to avoid both [redacted] and Central. Both are horrendous when it comes to customer service, not to mention morality.Desired Settlement: Ultimately I just want my ovens to work. But it seems like I might be better off just replacing them at this point because I don't want to deal with [redacted] or Central Appliance anymore. So, I would at least like as much of the money back as seems fair so that I can put it towards buying new ovens instead. And personally I don't think $1000 for an oven to work 11 months is fair.

Response:

When [redacted] contacted us (Central Appliance) in August of 2012 we stated that we repair [redacted]/Thermador, but do not do their warranty work. [redacted] still wanted us to repair his [redacted] oven. At that time his complaint was that his oven would not stop beeping and showed error code. We replaced the clock control assembly and a touch pad control charged him $1,054.35 which included both parts. labor. our service charge and tax. His oven is no longer beeping and is not showing the error code, which clearly shows our repair fixed his problem.

In July of 2013 he called us back telling us when he opens his oven door steam comes out and then shuts off Which is " totally different problem from the one he stated last year. We went back to his home on July **, 2013 tested the oven found nothing wrong. Me wants us to replace a door seal for no additional cost. Which we will not do, since we never installed one. we installed one. we guarantee/our work for one year meaning it has to be the same problem and part. Our service charge is good for one month, [redacted] refused to pay us our service charge of $59.95 tax $4.42 total $64.37.

Response:

First of all, he was told we are not authorized [redacted], but we do repair them, meaning we do not do their warranty work.

When we went in August of 2012 it was for beeping and FC error code, which we repaired and is still working. There was no problem with the seal. [redacted] is trying to do his own diagnosis and trying to say his problem started with the beeping and FC error code. If that was the case he would have had the problem with the deal last year.

It is a money problem because he wants us to replace parts that are working. He thinks that would solve his problem. But he is wrong. He now has a completely different problem.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Central Appliance apparently didn't even read my last response based on their answer. So I'm not really sure what value I am getting by debating something with someone who isn't even listening to the issue in the first place. I NEVER asked them to replace the parts that they say are "working." And it is a BLATANT LIE that they ever told us about the fact that they weren't a licensed [redacted] repairman. But AGAIN, all of that is moot as it pertains to the ACTUAL ISSUE I am disputing. Which is the fact that they DID NOT FIX THE SEAL THE FIRST TIME. Yet, they diagnosed the seal as the cause of the CF failure the first time, but did nothing to fix it. So, the issue remains... THEY NEVER FIXED THE CAUSE OF THE CF FAILURE- ONLY THE EFFECT. And the CAUSE is what's happening again- the seal is allowing moisture to seep into the replacement parts, causing them to fail when food is in the oven (the normal use of an oven).

I feel like I am saying the same thing over and over again. I guess I'll take up my issues elsewhere if the Revdex.com can't resolve this.

Sincerely,
