Review: I brought my vehicle to replace all my brake pads a few months prior to incident. On the date of Dec ** 2013 was on the Major Deegan Expressway heading North when traffic was slowing down when suddenly on applying my brakes I had no response. Had to immediately apply my emergency breaks in order to avoid a collision with vehicle directly in front of me. Upon full stop had to drive slowly to the emergency shoulder to examine breaks. Right rear rotator caliper was partially off rotator disk. On the removal of tire I noticed that the caliper was missing a bolt that holds caliper in place. Brake pad worn on half of padDesired Settlement: They have to replace rotator disk (rotator scratched due to caliper scrapping against disk) and both rear tire brake pads because you can't have brand new brake pads on one side of vehicle and old ones on the other side this causes improper braking.

Response:

Dear Sir or Madam:

This is in response to [redacted]'s comments regarding the above referenced ca se. As was stated In my initial response, we offered to have [redacted]'s car towed and inspected when he contacted us on December *. [redacted] declined both. Since we were unable to determine whether In fact the issue was related to the work done two months prior on his car because he would not let us inspect the vehicle, we were unable to provide [redacted] any further assistance.

The supposed issue is claimed to be related to a brake repair done two months prior on September **. If In fact a bolt was missing as [redacted] claimed, this Issue would have been noticed much sooner than two months later. Also, since [redacted] is not a mechanic and has no knowledge of car repair, It is not possible to know whether in fact this was the issue. He ref used to allow us to inspect the ca r and did not provide any evidence of repair or towing.

[redacted] indicates in his response that he did not req uest a ref und yet he posted online comments

In a review on Citysearch indicating that he req uested a refund and was denied. He further indicated in his initial claim that he expected the brakes to be repaired. [redacted] now says that he Is not comforta

ble coming back to have the work done. At no point in time was he confronted or threatened by any member of the staff. He used vulgar and abusive language to the staff when he visited the shop on December *. Based on his behavior, he was asked to leave. His statements are contradictory and inaccurate.

Central Auto Body stands by its work. The company has been in business for over 60 years our goal is to provide outstanding service to our customers. Unfortunately, since [redacted] has not provided any proof of work completed to his vehicle at any other shop and is not willing to allow us to Inspect his vehicle for any repair needed, we are unable to assistance him any further.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

Yes the incident happened on Dec [redacted] on a Sunday. Central auto is closed on Sundays. I needed to get an emergency repair on that same day. The next day Monday, Dec [redacted] is when I spoke to [redacted] about what had transpired the day before and that’s when I was offered a tow and repair. I declined a tow because it was unnecessary. Upon my arrival at Central on Dec [redacted] I was immediately confronted by an employee with false accusations and belligerence. At that moment I was threatened by him face to face to the point that 2 employees had to hold him back and I was immediately kicked out. I was never contacted by anyone from Central regarding a repair and I never asked for a refund. I only wanted an inspection and/or repair of my brakes. At this point I would not feel comfortable going back to this establishment after this incidence.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Response:

Dear Sir/Madam:

l am responding to the above identified complaint by [redacted]

A brake repair was performed by Central Auto Body on [redacted]'s vehicle on September **. [redacted] states that his brakes failed on December [redacted] (about two months later) while driving

on the Major Deegan highway because of a missing brake caliber bolt from the right rear wheel of the vehicle.

On December *, [redacted] called the shop and spoke to [redacted] (manager) and stated that his "brakes failed." [redacted]'s response to [redacted] was to not drive the vehicle and that we would tow his vehicle and bring it to the shop for a repair if it was related to the work performed by Central Auto Body. [redacted], [redacted] refused and stated he wanted a refund and that he had a "street mechanic" place a bolt in the brake system to correct the problem.

The following day, December *, [redacted] came to the shop driving the same vehicle. He was very angry and argumentative, using vulgar language and demanding a refund without giving us the benefit of Inspecting his vehicle so that we could acknowledge his complaint. We asked him ifhe heard any "knocking noise," immediately after the repait inSeptember that we performed and he stated

"no." (Usually one would hear a noise while braking if there was a missing bolt.)

He also did not provide us wiili any proof of towing expense (since he said his brakes failed on the Major Deegan on December *) or any repair bills related to this.

Because of bis behavior and use of inappropriate language, he was asked to leave the shop that day.

lf in fact there was a p1oblem with the brake system because of a missing bolt after the work was done in September, he would have heard that "knocking noise" immediately or shortly after driving off and not two months later.

Unfortunately, we were not able to resolve [redacted]'s concern because he did not allow us to inspect bis vehicle after the issue with his brakes. At least two attempts were made by Central Auto Body

to address the customer's concerns by offering a tow and reinspect of the brakes and a repair if this was related to the work done by Central Auto Body.

At this time, we are still willing to help [redacted] if he is willing to return to the shop and allow us to properly inspect his vehicle and make the necessary repair.

Sincerely,
