Review: The contract stated work could not begin until 10% of the cost of repairs was paid. I told the salesman, [redacted], that my 10% would be cash, specifically with four $100 dollar bills. [redacted] told me it was not standard procedure to accept cash and then advised me to give the cash to the laborer, Antonio, who had begun working as [redacted] and I were going over the contract. [redacted] and I shook hands, and then he left. As Antonio was preparing to leave approximately two hours later, I gave him the 10% down, in four $100 dollar bills. Antonio went to his vehicle and brought back the change that was just under $20. I have a witness who saw Antonio give me my change. The work was completed and I was waiting to receive payment from my homeowners insurance, which I did receive more than one week after the job's completion. I paid for the repairs in full and according to the statement I received from CCCR, Inc. Unfortunately, the statement did not reflect the credit of the cash down payment. Antonio claims he did not receive my cash payment. And I did not get a receipt. But [redacted] and I shook hands and to me, that is, or should be as good as a receipt. It is still unclear to me why [redacted] did not accept my cash down payment. And it is still unclear why a sales man, knowing of a cash transaction, would suggest the cash be given to the laborer.Desired Settlement: I received a check from CCCR, Inc. for one-half of my $381.00 deposit. I have not cashed it because I expect the full deposit be paid back to me.
