We are not upset with this customerWe simply feel we have the right to inspect this oil leak to see if it has anything to do with our previous repairsIf so, we will warranty the problem

Hello. As stated in my last reply, [redacted] has charged back all monies on credit cards that were used to pay for several different repairs we did to her car.At the time she was bringing her car to us and afterwards, we have done everything we could to try and resolve her issues & make her happy. If there is still an oil leak that we are responsible for we are and always have been perfectly willing to repair it. If it can be reasonably repaired by another facility and is one of the repairs we did that is under our warranty, we would be willing to pay for that repair. (we would have to preauthorize it) However, she already has ALL the money back she spent here so that would need to be credited back to our bank account. At this point, there is no proof of a leak at all or what is leaking.Again, we want to do what ever it takes to make her happy and resolve this issue. Its just an oil leak and can be remedied. As far as the bulkhead goes, she was given incorrect information at the dealer. The bulkhead we are referring to is an engine component between the oil pan & the engine block. According to the B.A.R. rep that is handling this, he confirmed that this part IS obsolete & that the parts department at the Ford dealership looked up a wiring harness bulkhead giving her the wrong information. She knew what part we were referring to & agreed to the price we got it for. (which is in writing on the work order)We just want to resolve this matter so we can all move on. Thank you, [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I can see by the response from Mr. [redacted] that he is a bit upset about someone taking some kind of action about the way he handles his car fixing ethics. No one should have to take a car in to be worked on as much I had to do. Please bear with me as I am not good at this sort of thing. He forgot to mention that he wanted me to give him my car after I put $907.00 into it. He wanted to take it off my hands with no money for me. Never heard of such a thing. I was also told I had a very unusual engine. I took it to Perry Ford then and they said nothing was unusual about my engine. I showed them parts dept. the sketch of bulkhead and they misquoted me a price as it is not to be had there. I have a friend retired from parts dept. at auto parts store that looked at my car shook his head because I still had oil leaks. And found a bulkhead for $120.00 in about five min. on the phone. Every time I took my car in it came out with something else broken or leaking. Enough was enough. As I may have mentioned it is a hardship for me to ever get out of bed sometimes. As for seeing crack in a part – my corners have cracked and on most days my eyes are in so much pain I cannot hardly seat all. Not looking for sympathy but that’s the truth about it all.

I was also told I needed a new radiator after a few visits.  Will, I found one on a car after market side for $66.00 I was going to order it myself and have friends put in. Then I was told not radiator. This has kept my mind in constant confusion. He says he replaced all parts well very did they have to be when he had engine open all the way at first then when I took back he had to repeat. The last time he wanted to keep my car for over the weekend – turned into four days and wanted another day. My family and friends are trying to help me. They said no! Get the car and do not take it back. Unfortunately I took it back to many times. He is the one that wanted to epoxy or weld so I took my uncle down then with me to look at it. This is the day he said he would take it off my hands. He said he could not find a welder. There are so many around here. Then he did hard research for bulkhead $395.00 and I was elated. I was so sick from the stress this put me through my body has taken a hit for the worse. Could not sleep at night. I also took to master tech and he became a bit upset. They said he had one chance to fix it properly that’s one of the reason I took it back. I think Mr. [redacted] has been trying to fix all the mistakes he made on the last trip in. Not accusing, that’s  just my suspicion.

The underside of car was cleaned up now as it was not when I first took it to Perry Ford and Master Tech. That was done before BAR got there. I had a person who will be call a source that worked with Mr. [redacted] in parts before. He did not want to ever confront him as he said he was a very hard person to do business with. I do believe if he did replace timing belt and things he should be paid. He has no worries on that. Sometimes we had to protect ourselves to get what we consumers call a fair deal. He says I just want money. No, I just wanted a simple oil fix. Just my car fixed so I could park in a driveway and not leave a mess at my landlady’s home. Mr. [redacted] does not like a review on him that was written but people called me on the phone after having him work on my car and I told them what I thought. That was not printed as far as I know. I never heard of people calling you on the phone asking about the service. It (the service I was provided was awful) About him being a good Christian man. I hear he uses that phrase a lot. But what does that have to do with getting a job done quickly and completely done. The Perry parts dept. gave me that quote for $87.16 for a part that was not a bulkhead, but I showed them picture of it. That was not my fault. Still do not know about that part but I have the print out for it. Who do you believe?

He also say I was happy I guess to get a ride home from garage. As to my knowledge all garages I know of offer that service. All in all – I should have asked around before taking it there as I have heard from a lot of folks now they (Central Coast Customs) are good at smogs if you need it but do not go for repairs. I learned a very valuable lesson. It took a toll on my health and my trust in people but I learned something. And thank God I paid most of it on a charge card that would contest it for me because the cash is gone. I almost paid the first full $907 in cash because ,y charge card had not arrived it. Hopefully it will all get looked out. As for me I am afraid to drive that car any place I do not have to now and it makes me ill to have to get into it. A lot of people have older cars that still run good. We have to keep them. We have no choice. I still not to this day have received a statement that says my funds were refunded so I can say for sure if my bank retrieved any of it. I am hoping so as I still have a quote from a garage for $1,134.91 for what they believe was leaking on March10, 2015. I do not know how the man from BAR can know without opening engine back up. Sounds strange to me.
I guess that about is the end of my response given my seven day limit which I believe they took a bit much time to do.

The man from BAR suggested I take them to small claims but I you see, I have done that once long ago and win through the judgement was in my favor and I had to pay to have papers served, nothing happened and every time you have papers served you have you pay again. There is something wrong there. My faith in the system has kind of fallen. I am happy someone is trying to help. I need it.

I never saw one old part!
I hear they are supposed to give them to you. I would if I were them to protect themselves.
Regards,
[redacted]

On 1/5/15 [redacted] brought a 2000 Ford focus dual overhead cam engine to check for quote "an oil leak". Upon our initial inspection we found an oil sending unit leaking, which is a pressure leak, front engine oil seals & valve cover gasket all leaking. The oil sending unit was leaking right...

above a crack that was in the bulkhead of the engine, but was not visible at the time with out removing the right axle shaft. So the sending unit (an inexpensive repair) was done along with other noted repairs after her authorization. We also recommended at the time to replace timing belt, which was cracked bad & ready to break, & water pump which were all original. she agreed & we proceeded with repairs. On 1/22/15 she brought it back stating oil was still leaking - which it was. After getting her authorization we removed axle shaft for further inspection & found the crack in the bulkhead. The part is obsolete from Ford & at the time we could not find anyone else that could supply it. The customers uncle came in with her & they both visually saw what we were talking about. He suggested silicone or epoxy on crack to see if it would seal. Though improbable that it would seal, we were going to try. After hours of phone calls & research on line I was finally able to get one on line. It was $395.00 which also covered shipping, long distance calls & research labor expenses. The customer was literally "elated" we were able to get the bulkhead. With authorization, this component was replaced. On 2/24/15 she came back again with an oil leak. This time we did find one of the factory cam seals we had replaced was leaking. We got on the repair work that day, no questions asked for no charge under warranty. After we replaced the seal, we left the upper timing cover off & extensively ran engine & drove car over 10 miles on the high way. There were no engine oil leaks at this time.We again received a call from her saying there was still an oil leak. All we could do was ask her to bring it back & we will check it out again. She agreed. We received a phone message the morning she was supposed to drop it off saying she would not be dropping it off and was having someone else do it.Shortly after this, our bank account was debited from her charging back all credit card payments. (about $2000.00 worth). The money is still gone from our account. She also unjustifiably slammed us on Yelp, Google etc. thank goodness she did complain to the Bureau or automotive Repair.[redacted] from the Bakersfield B.A.R. office was the rep investigating this. He met her at Perry ford with her car. It was inspected there & they found no engine oil leaks but did find a small power steer fluid leak that had developed. After reviewing all our signed work orders w/written warranty disclaimer, he found we had done nothing wrong, no citation & said he was to tell the customer she needs to reinstate the funds to our bank. Please call Mr. Narayan at ###-###-#### for all the details. We also have copies of all signed legal binding work orders (contracts) that we can send you.We did everything in our power to satisfy this customer. We were always on o good cordial relationship until she got it in her mind she could get all her money back. Our work is warranted 1 yr / 12,000 miles.Between her unjustifiably charging back the credit cards & using another persons name on Yelp & Google - which is against the law. We are prepared to sue this person & the person who's name she used on Yelp & Google.Thank you, [redacted]. Central Coast custom.

Review: I bought a 1999 vw passat in jan of 2014 and found it had an oil leak.I took the car to central coast custom inc.so they could find and fix the problem on feb 12 2014.they did whats called a die test on the motor to find out where it was coming from.was called a week or so later and told by the owner they would have to take timing cover off to to get into more deatail and that would be roughly 4 hours labor 400$.I said ok do it.was called back and was told it had a leak from front crankshaft seal and left front valve cover gasket now were at roughly 1200$.I told him I am on A fixed income from the army and I cant afford alot. But it had to be fixed specially now it was took apart.so I agreed .he called me back and said the right valve gasket wasnt leaking, but IT would be a good ideal to replce it .I told him I would call him back in a liite while.I wanted to see if I could borrow the money.I called him back and asked how much more would it cost and he said roughly 200$ more and I told him I would do it if he could keep it at no more than 1,450$ out the door.and he agreed.they called me 03/04/2014 and said it was done.20 days later.I picked it up and drove it home maybe 5 miles and I still had a leak.so the next week I drove it roughly 80 miles.and leak was the same called him and he said bring back in monday the 17th.first thing he said was I new I was gona have a problem with car ill never work on a passat v-6 again.he called me back and said they found a leak on the left timing chain tensioner I told him thats on you cause I had no more money.in the conversation he told me that it also has a small leak from the rear timing chain tensioner on rear side of right head. but nothing major. my invoice sez no warranty on that or other areas that may develop a leak.all gaskets and seals we came across were hard and brittle, all others probably are to.03/24/2014.they had my car 27 days, and it still leaks.and according to him it always will.Desired Settlement: I DONT WANT ALL MY MONEY BACK .I THINK HALF WOULD BE FAIR SO I CAN GET THE OTHER REPAIRS DONE AT A VW REPAIR SHOP.HEY I TOOK MY CAR IN TO FIND WHERE THE OIL WAS COMING FROM AND FIX IT. THAT SIMPLE.THATS NOT MY FAULT.HE COULD OF REFUSED TO DO IT.HE DIDNT.I THINK HE TRIED AND THATS WHY IM NOT ASKING FOR MORE.BUT POINT IS I STILL HAVE TO GET IT FIXED.

Regards,

Review: I took car in for an oil leak. While they had it on racks I was told other things was wrong with it, so I gave ok to try fix them right, invoice #19**6. I brought it home it had oil leak. Returned to shop on 1/15/15. I was then told the bulk head was cracked and needed to be epoxy or welded. The costs are on enclosed invoices. They kept my car for a week on the racks then I was told he tracked down a bulk head at the costs of $395.00. I wanted it fixed right. Epoxy would not hold. He could not find a welder. I paid for that. It still leaked oil and while there they broke by their own admission power steering hose. On invoice there was no charge out of good faith. They broke it. Brought car home again and still leaking oil, I too to another mechanic and they said he had first chance to make it right. I do not trust him at this point. Especially after the bulk head incident. As I am writing this the Central Coast Customs garage still has my car. I have money rights of anxiety over this and had to cancel Dr. appointment. It has made me shake. Please help me and point me in a direction to get this right and resolved. Invoices included.Desired Settlement: Fix my car completely for all the repairs it was brought in for I do not want anymore leaks after all the times I have had to take back to garage. I would like to be reimbursed the difference on all bulk head that I was told my car engine was very unusual. Told was a very hard part to find. Icalled Perry Ford of San Luis Obispo and was given a price over the phone for $80.70. They would have to order it. Central Coast Custom kept my car for a week saying the part was hard to find and would have to epoxy or weld it. Then he found one for the price of $395.00.
