Thank you for your letter dated 10/24/2016. This letter Serves as Our response. The O[redacted] house has had previous owners before F[redacted] and J[redacted] and one of those previous owners decided to add on the “Sun Room”. The Sun Room has been leaking early-on  since its install and Several glass...

contractors have been called out over the years to stop the leaks during the rainy season before the O[redacted]’s purchase of the home. The initial overall design was an afterthought and installation was poor. The  O[redacted]'s Realtor and previous homeowners apparently did not disclose to the O[redacted]’s the problems this Sun Room has had over the years before F[redacted] and J[redacted]  purchased it. The fix that would have to take place would be more costly than the O[redacted]s were willing to fund at that time. However, they insisted our company try to stop the leaks. They were told the cost and that we can seal leaks temporarily but a permanent fix would need to be sought by others. They told our company to “fix it”. We did and Gale, the owner, answe[redacted] their calls and gave them advice. On Friday night F[redacted] called and demanded that the owner and crew come out next day on the weekend but did not want to pay any weekend rates. He said he should not have to pay weekend rates. He said he should not have to pay weekend rates. And he had heard there might be rain. We told him since it was last minute that the crew may not be available on their Saturday off and we are not open on weekends so yes weekend rates would be in order, which he was quoted and that we did not cause this problem with his Sun Room but were trying to help him seal the leaks. He did not want to hear about any of that and said to come out . We called the tenant to advise but with her language barrier she was not understandable and was very upset that we called. I had told her to discuss that with the owners as it was their demand that we be there. We did everything we could to appease the O[redacted]’s. We also orde[redacted] a new aluminum window for them to go downstairs to replace an old easement window that didn’t open or close properly. I quoted the cost of $350/includes install. They asked me to go ahead and replace it for them so I orde[redacted] it. Then they wanted it installed for free! I had to refuse that.In closing, the O[redacted]’s should be upset at others i.e., their realtor and initial Sun Room builders that had created this problem but the O[redacted]’s choose to take their bitterness out on our company who provided temporary seals to a bigger problem and Mr. and Mrs. O[redacted] were advised they would have to call a general contractor to fix their Sun Room in a more permanent fashion. Not by calling glass company contractors who can seal the leaks annually. The O[redacted]’s and their tenant were very very difficult to work with and wanted man hours and materials for free even though we told him we are not the cause of his Sun Room leaking! I am happy to hear the O[redacted]’s finally decided to spend the money to put a roof over their problematic leaking Sun Room.Sincerely,G[redacted]Central Coast Glass

I am rejecting this response because:I filed the complaint only to serve as a forewarning to others.  I included documents with my original complaint that are exact copies from Central Coast Glass and myself.  I am sure these will suffice as to what occurred. I only wish to state the following:  I am a 30+ year veteran Realtor and this is only my 2nd complaint ever to the Revdex.com. We were never advised to contact a general contractor by the company. As to the tenant’s language barrier, she is a successful business person in the US for over 25 years.  She does have an accent, but she has no problem communicating and running a business, I assure you.  My husband is the last person to be demanding in any business situation, I may roar like a lion, but he is very professional, diplomatic, and excellent at negotiating.  I just find that the high charges for trips and time working were exorbitant for time listed that was not accurately reported.  And, at no time prior to the bill coming in the mail, was there any mention of charges either for general work or installation.  I was quoted for the window and had no trouble paying for it.  That window was installed during the time they were working on the water leak. There was an additional window to be installed downstairs; I did not have them install that window due to the dispute over other costs. Though I would love to see some refund on the $2,200+ I was charged (for putting up plastic sheeting, redoing work that had not been done right the first time) and paid in protest, I just want to save others from this frustration. Had I looked on YELP, before I hired Central Coast Glass to work on my home, I never would have hired them in the first place.
Regards,
J[redacted]
