From: Jerry B [redacted] Sent: Tuesday, August 09, 7:AM Subject: ID # [redacted] We did the machine work to the block , which was hot tank cam brg soft plugs, bore for oversize pistons , reground crankshaft, re-surface block deckand hung new pistons on connecting rodsI orderd an engine kit through our supplier which included Pistons & rings - gaskets - rod & main bearings -timing components head bolts of part # hb& oil pump. When we do machine work and sell engine kit it is up to the customer to check all clearances as they assemble an engine to make sure all tolerances are proper. If you don't follow this procedure yes there is great potential for failureEven from the manufacture they mis-box parts thats why its very important to check before assemblyI remember Sonny calling on the low oil pressure and I asked him when he assembled if he had checked the clearences and he replied he had one of his friends putting it together and yes they had checked the clearences on the crankshaftSo Sonny brought down the block only that we did the machine work with the camshaft he had purchase online (not from me)So when he brought the block back he brought the camshaft with him this time so we could check the clearences and told him there was clearence We told him that could be possible oil pressure loss so he came up with another block and we checked the cam brg clearence in that and it was exactly the same as the first block we installed the cam bearings inRandy then asked him if he had checked the clearences on the crankshaft and he replied yes they are correctSo then Sonny called and told me that I supplied the wrong size bearings and I told him if they would of checked the clearences as they were assembling they would have caught itI told him I felt bad and that I would sell him the gaskets , head bolts , and the rod and main bearings for $ On the end of every crankshaft it is marked with the sizes and the bearing boxes are also marked with the sizes Not only did they not check clearences as they assembled they did not even look at the bearing boxes or at the writing on the crankshaft to compare I have attachments that I am sending Thank-you ! Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
During the time that business transactions occurred, the main individual who was supplying the service at Central Cylinder was RandyI understand Jerry was not present during this time due to health issuesYes, it is the responsibility of us to check the “boxes” however, when you purchase an item from a shop that you trust, you have good faith in the experts and do not believe they would provide you with the wrong materials, in this instance, the kit for the rebuild (which the bearings provided in this kit were inaccurate)In one of the pictures provided by Jerry, Central Cylinder were going off of metric numbers and ordered imperial number bearings which did not match upThe issue arises when the customer comes back to double check that all parts supplied where accurateOn the receipt picture provided, the crankshaft states that it was ground, at which point the specs are altered from stockWhen the specs are altered from stock it alters the numbers from standard to specialized bearingIt can be easy as a customer to get these values mixed up, thus the need to trust those who are experts in the fieldAgain, what is concerning is that when my mechanic went back with all the parts to facilitate assistance and identify the error, my mechanic, Sonny was told by Randy that he “did not want to waste his time figuring it out”This prompted my mechanic Sonny to go to Clackamas Machine Shop, who he has never used before, at which time the error was identified. Sincerely,*** ***

From: Jerry B*** Sent: Monday, August 29, 5:PMSubject: Re: ID#***I forgot to mentioned that at no time did he ever bring the crank or any of the bearings back for us to inspect. He had a mind set that the cam bearings were installed incorrectly that was the reason why we had brought a 2nd block down for us to check the cam bearing spec also

engine kit through our supplier which included Pistons & rings - gaskets - rod & main bearings -timing components head bolts of part # hb160 & oil pump. When we do machine work and sell engine kit it is up to the customer to check all clearances as they assemble an engine to make sure all tolerances are proper. If you don't follow this procedure yes there is great potential for failure. Even from the manufacture they mis-box parts thats why its very important to check before assembly. I remember Sonny calling on the low oil pressure and I asked him when he assembled if he had checked the clearences and he replied he had one of his friends putting it together and yes they had checked the clearences on the crankshaft. So Sonny brought down the block only that we did the machine work with the camshaft he had purchase online (not from me). So when he brought the block back he brought the camshaft with him this time so we could check the clearences and told him there was .005 clearence . We told him that could be possible oil pressure loss so he came up with another block and we checked the cam brg clearence in that and it was exactly the same as the first block we installed the cam bearings in. Randy then asked him if he had checked the clearences on the crankshaft and he replied yes they are correct. So then Sonny called and told me that I supplied the wrong size bearings and I told him if they would of checked the clearences as they were assembling they would have caught it. I told him I felt bad and that I would sell him the gaskets , head bolts , and the rod and main bearings for $60.00  . On the end of every crankshaft it is marked with the sizes and the bearing boxes are also marked with the sizes . Not only did they not check clearences as they assembled they did not even look at the bearing boxes or at the writing on the crankshaft to compare.  I have 3 attachments that I am sending.       Thank-you !        Jerry B[redacted]
