We are sorry for any delay, but this freight is now showing delivered as of today

The *** *** *** network was already backed up on freight moving West to East and East to West due to Hurricane Irma that made landfall on the weekend of Sept 8th, when this was shipped on Sept 12th. The expected due date was Sept 15th during transit times, and this was not a
guaranteed delivery date. The destination terminal was closed until Friday Sept 15th and this shipment delivered on Monday Sept 18thAs far as the customer service portion of the complaint, we checked and found that the date in question has already processed out of our system. Based on this finding, we are unable to identify the person that took the call. We are however going to use the complaint and go over with our entire customer service departmentCordially, *** ***

When shipments are delivered, a copy of a delivery receipt is presented to the receiver. It clearly shows piece counts that are being received and allows the receiver to annotate any exception to the piece count or the condition. In this case, the shipment was signed for by ***
*** at Ram Country Produce. Mr*** signed the delivery receipt without exception and it clearly noted pieces to be received. It was dated 6/24.We heard nothing else to the contrary until a cargo claim was filed on 6/30. If there was anything missing, the delivery receipt should have been noted at that time. Carriers cannot extend their liability to shipments indefinitely after delivery. In cases like this, the delivery receipt is the initial ruling document as to carrier liability. There has not been anything factual presented to overcome the fact that the delivery receipt was clearly signed for without exception. Our position is to maintain our original declination

I have reviewed the complaint with the manager in the [redacted] area, and have determined that it is possible that [redacted]'s employee caused the damage to [redacted]'s property.  In order to resolve this customer complaint, [redacted] Lines is agreeing to reimburse [redacted] the...
