I called Central Heating for repair of a furnace that wasn't workingThe dispatcher explained that I would be charged $just for the repairman to come to my homeThe man came, examined the furnace, and told me that the furnace needed several new parts, which he would have to order and I would have to pay for up front at a cost of $But really what I needed, he said, was a altogether new furnace at around $10, I said I'd need to think about itThen I called another companyThe service man from the other company noticed a small wire that needed replacing (which he did in five minutes), that the furnace filters needed to be cleaned (which I was able to do), and that the main breaker switch to the furnace was offAnd that was it! Total cost - no charge! If I had taken the word of the repairman from Central Heating, I'd be replacing a perfectly good furnace at great expense
