Central Title and Escrow Inc Reviews (5)

Good afternoon,It appears the funds are held in escrow and we will be refunding the difference owed to her. I did speak with *** *** a few moments ago and she seems happy with the solution. We will place her funds in tomorrows mail to her PO box address. With regard to the documents
being recorded, we have reached out to the PG County and we are researching the status of the recording, I have also advised *** *** of this and we will be in communication with *** *** once it's on record; the County is approximately, weeks behind, so it is possible it is recorded and not scanned, the other possibility is that the documents have been rejected again, please note, they have been rejected twice by the County, since the closing in which happened, 07/13/2017.I did apologize to *** *** for the inconvenience and we will research this to a end.Thank you for writing to us,Jennifer ** P***, Central Title and Escrow, Inc

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me once my funds are received and the property is transferred out of my name (Not sure why the recordation has been rejected twice, but hopefully Central will get it right the third time.)

Review: Poor communication between Central Title & Escrow Inc with mortgage companies and clients. We settled on two properties with Central Title and Escrow. We were asked to provide a specific amount of money at settlement for both properties, the amounts of $11,000+ dollars were provided to the company in forms of two checks at settlement on 5/27/14. The amounts included taxes collected by the county of [redacted] every 6 months. The Title company never communicated with either mortgage lender to verify if taxes have been payed for to the county, nor did the title company advise us, as the clients, that the taxes may be payed out of our existing escrow accounts. This resulted in a double payment of county taxes where our settlement money and escrow money were used to pay taxes twice. During settlement, we were assured that the two checks would cover the pay off of both properties and we would receive our escrow checks back from lenders within two weeks. After three weeks, we inquired with the mortgage lenders about our escrow checks, at which point the one lender advised that there was a shortage at settlement of $600+ dollars. Again, a surprise since we were never notified. When we asked the Title company about this issue, the receptionist advised us that we would be responsible for the shortage. I contacted the county and they advised that a refund check was sent to the Title company on 6/24 in the amount of $1227. The title company then told us that they would take the $600 dollars out of that check, as of 7/10, still no money has arrived. Another telephone conversation held today (7/10) with the receptionist, still no answers provided as to when the shorted check would arrive. Then I inquired about the amount of the other check which was sent back by the county on 7/2. The receptionist informed me that it has not arrived yet, the amount totaling $1601 dollars, but once it comes they would send us a check for $15xx dollars because that account was short too! A month and a half since settlement and now we're advised that account was short? The Title company then freely subtracted the short amounts from our tax checks and advised they'll be sending both double payment checks back with a $700+ plus dollar shortage. They took no responsibility for their lack of communication and even lied that they communicated these issues to us. I would not recommend anyone dealing with this company, lack of communication, clarification and zero responsibility for their inappropriate actions.Desired Settlement: I would like both shorted amounts returned to us. The total amount of over payed taxes at settlement, for both properties should equal to $2,828 not the $21xx the title company said they would return to us.
