My problem started at the beginning of Summer. Actually it started before that but that is when I finally called. I am supposed to receive the YES paper. I called because I had not been receiving it for quite a while. I then started receiving the paper every day. I called to explain that the YES paper was the only one I was to receive - and they stopped everything - including the YES paper. I called and the full circle started again. This went on for the ENTIRE summer! I am down to not receiving anything. And when I call it’s promised to be delivered the next day but I never get anything! Delivery problems were the reason I stopped paying for the daily CDT in the first place. I thought I would give them a second chance. Guess not.

I spoke with the carrier, checked our records and verified the problem had been resolved
by following up and observing the delivery issue, which had indeed been rectified.
Further, I spoke to the person on September 29, 2014. She informed me that her request
was fulfilled.

Review: I have a subscription to the Centre Daily Times newspaper that is paid by credit card in advance. Recently I received a notice from them that they were sending me six "special" editions at an extra $1.00 per edition that will contain special sections covering sports, road trips, a calendar, Thanksgiving sales, and activities guide. I do not want or need any of these special inserts and I called them to say so. Why must I pay for information on ads or a calender that is freely supplied by my bank. (or road trips-I'm 88 years old) The notice says that my prepaid subscription would be shortened accordingly to cover the special material. When I called them I was told that I must pay for this special material to continue my subscription. I don't mind the charge but I certainly object to the underhanded way in which the management is attempting to increase their income and that the reader has no choice in the matter.Desired Settlement: Make the special material optional for the customer.

Review: CDT promises that when customer places a vacation hold, they will retain the papers and deliver them at the end of the hold. (They do not offer having the papers not delivered for credit as would be reasonable and as other papers provide). I repeatedly have experienced that they deliver the papers anyway in full visibility of the entire neighborhood, thus putting my residence in jeopardy of invasion or worse. I have complained to them previously but they did not respond or make an effort to change their practices.I recently came home from an absence to find a number of papers jammed into the delivery box in full visibility of the entire neighborhood.Desired Settlement: A public apology in the paper for failing to meet their service obligations and for putting customers' homes at risk. Some reasonable sanction against the delivery manager for failure to respond to this problem. And correction of the problem so it does not ever occur again.Implementation of an option which provides that papers not be delivered during a vacation period and that subscriber will receive credit for issues not delivered.

Response:

The customer was called and spoken to regarding his concern and the problem has been resolved. My direct contact information was given to the customer should there be any other issues of any kind.

Consumer

Response:

Contrary to the response from the Centre Daily Times, they did not discuss in any way the actions they would take to resolve this issue which has been going on for years and with several delivery persons. My expectation is that they will ignore the complaint as they did my original correspondence with the company. The manager's solution was for me to call him directly rather than use the paper's automated system for vacation hold, which is not a resolution at all.

However, it is not worth my time to further pursue this. If the problem recurs, I will file another Revdex.com complaint.

Review: The Centre Daily Times has continued to dump their weekly YES! advertising publication onto our property time and time again despite our demands that they stop doing this. Not only do these advertisements, which are wrapped in pink plastic, litter our property but they add to our already ample garbage, as we have been forced to pick up their debris from our property again and again. Either they are not communicating to their carriers to stop delivering junk ads to our property or their carriers simply do not care and are continuing to deliver them anyway to inflame the situation.Desired Settlement: I would like the Centre Daily Times to remove our address from their delivery list permanently and to mandate that all of their carriers cease throwing their publications onto our property from this point forward.

Review: Due to an illness in the family, I had put the paper on vacation stop for four day, two separate times. There claims to be a policy change, but nowhere is that made known, that credit is no longer given for the vacation stop. I called in November, about the missing credit and was told that I would be given the credit since the policy was unknown to me. On 12-1-14, I called to check the status and found my account was actually shortened a day, going from 1-11-15 to 1-10-15, and again was told, by customer service, that the credit would be requested and given. Nothing was credited by 12-3-14, customer service stated that they would try again, but as of 12-4-14, nothing has been changed or credited.Desired Settlement: I would like the five missing days added to my account, which is what I have asked for the three calls to them. Also, for policy changes to be made aware to customers, prior, not after things happen.
