Review: This accounting firm made the same mistake on my tax return 2 years in a row. I was not aware of the first mistake until I received an IRS letter which was after the second year's tax return was filed. They deducted child care expenses even though we take our child care deduction by using an Employer Flex Account (allows pre-tax funds for child care). They had this information in front of them but made the mistake anyway. This resulted in us having to pay about $600 back to the IRS the first year. And the second year, we had to pay that plus a negligence fee of $120 and interest.

After being made aware of the first mistake, I contacted them and received horrible service. They told me I owe the IRS (which I understand but it was their mistake) and they wouldn't do anything about it. They did do my 2013 taxes at no cost but this was before I found out that they made the same mistake on my 2012 return.

I've contacted them about the 2012 return on numerous occasions. They requested the IRS letter which I sent them and even after a month with me checking in weekly, they continue to ignore me. I feel they owe me the negligence fee at least.

They have horrible service and evidently do not understand how to properly deduct childcare. I will not be using them again.Desired Settlement: I'd like them to return a phone call for one. And I feel they owe at least the negligence fee. I understand that we owe the IRS as we were refunded money that we shouldn't have been. But the negligence should fall on Centsable Accounting. I thought I was doing the responsible thing by hiring a CPA to do my taxes.

Review: [redacted] at Centsable accounting never filed the paperwork removing one of the members of our llc. For over a year she led me to believe that she had. Numerous phone calls were never returned and requested paperwork took over 4 months. When I finally did receive the paperwork my name was spelled wrong throughout the entire legal document, once again the call was not returned to fix it. This company has been very untrustworthy, unprofessional and in my opinion unethical. I am now left to deal with an issue that should have been filed with the secretary of state in April of 2012. I am now going to have pay legal fees to have my lawyer finish the job she didn't finish.Desired Settlement: I would like the paperwork that I have requested and and for her to explain herself. I would also like a refund for preparing our business taxes as I would not have used her knowing she was doing them under the pretense of filing legal documents, as well as a refund for my personal taxes as she I feel she mislead me to believe all had been taken care of.

Response:

The tax returns clearly show when the partner was removed from the LLC in .Tune of 2012 as the three parties in the LLC had originally decided. On May 30, 2012, the three members of the LLC came to my office for a tax planning meeting but when they arrived they were fighting between themselves and one partner was leaving. During the meeting one of them left my office crying before we were finished. The other two immediately told me that I should have been the one to make her sign off on paperwork that she was leaving the LLC. I had not been told the meeting was in regards to anything other than taxes so I had prepared myself for tax planning and was taken back, I told them that as of June 1, 2012, I would reflect on the tax return that she was no longer a member. They never paid me for that appointment because they stated they did not have the money to pay me since the other member had not been helping they were completely broke.

About two weeks later, one of the two that remained in the LLC called me telling me that * should have made her a 51 % owner and that it was my wrong doing in not recommending that she was a 51 % owner. At which time I recommended that she go see a lawyer rather than have me do any of the paperwork because 1 was no longer able to help them for FREE in these discussions because I was not able to make her a 51% owner. She had wanted me to do that without the other member knowing and I told her that was wrong and she needed to go discuss with an attorney. This member was not [redacted].

During the time of December 2013 until March 2013, my office responded many times to the LLC members because the remaining two parties in the LLC where fighting and disagreeing over the remaining value of the LLC. Those months are traditionally extremely busy in a tax practice and no one was willing to pay for the time that they spent talking on the phone to all of us at our office because of course we should provide the service to them for nothing since they were fighting over the value. They both hired attorneys and had attorneys draw up paperwork between the two of them resolving the issue.

In March 2013, the other LLC member had stated some remarks to me regarding the person that has written the complaint about me and Centsable Accounting. We sent her a letter telling her that she was able to go elsewhere and we sincerely wished her the best in all her endeavors. [redacted] called stating the other member of the LLC was the one that was bad mouthing us not her and she really wanted us to prepare her taxes. She apologized for putting us through the mess with the other partner and really wanted us to prepare the taxes.

In May of 2013, we have a meeting and she wants to add a member to the LLC. I told her at that point I think she should seek an attorney to prepare the paperwork and she requests that I prepare it for her. Since it is an unpaid job that I am supposed to prepare it is not priority since I have to continue to provide services to the people that are paying me. I send her the paperwork in the mail in September because she was calling and demanding that I prepare it. While I was preparing it, the paperwork that was supposed to be done in March was not done changing the registered agent that both sides had hired attorneys to prepare so I had corrected that paperwork so that she was listed as the registered agent. Evidentially I accidentally put an e in her name. She does call leaving a message that it was done but it was my understanding from the message that she was going to white out tire e and send in the paperwork to the state of Montana. She never sends the paperwork copies to us so I do not know what was done. Then she calls my office on a Friday a few minutes prior to noon requesting the paperwork that she states was supposed to be done in 2012 faxed to her lawyer office immediately. Since * was working on something else, I did not get it done immediately. She calls four more times that afternoon I answered the phone a few minutes to 5 and she requested it immediately. I told her that I had to pull her file and look. I pull her file and look and call her back. We connect about 5:30 and she again is demanding everything from the file. 1 attempted to explain to her at that time that I had prepared the taxes correctly and that the other party had wanted a bigger percentage and * was not willing to do that. In June of 2012 I had suggested they go to an attorney at that time to draw up the paperwork,

Centsable Accounting is not refunding the client the money that they are demanding, The client had hired us to prepare tax returns. The client signed contract letters and questionnaires requesting us to prepare the tax returns. The taxes have been prepared correctly. The rest of the time and energy that was spent on this client was done without payment.

Response:

[redacted]:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

Upon reading the response I understand that nothing is going to be fixed as it is a he said she said game and I am not willing to play it anymore. This is not about the money. I never once said I would not pay for services from her company. When I left her office I know myself and the other partner leaving the llc were under the understanding that the issue was being taken care of. I feel that as a partner in a business I should have been informed of choices that were being made without my knowledge. Also, I feel that I was pushed to back burner because of someones guilt of not informing of me of these matters. As attorney issues....I had one before discussing with [redacted] the removal of the last member. This a circle of misconceptions on many parts and unreturned phone calls as well headache that could have been avoided if all parties were informed. I hope in the future this is considered and none of her other clients are made to the feel the way I have. I believe in doing business in a fair and respectful way and hope her the best in the future as I understand she was put in a difficult position but do not feel I should have taken the brunt of it.
