This letter is in response to complaint number: [redacted] by [redacted] Ms [redacted] graduated in February [redacted] with her [redacted] from Centura College in [redacted] **When Ms [redacted] graduated, she received an exit letter dated 2/24/with her student account summary (see below):The written documentation she was provided showed she owed Centura College $ [redacted] and had a private loan of $ [redacted] Ms [redacted] signed promissory notes for the private loan with [redacted] as well as the institutional loan from Centura CollegeMs [redacted] did make three $ [redacted] payments towards her balance at Centura College; one on 5/24/2011, another on 7/26/2011, and a final payment on 8/25/2011.We attempted to contact Ms [redacted] starting 9/27/via letter and phone when the monthly payments stopped, however all numbers we had had on file had been disconnectedPer her private lender (***), Ms [redacted] did not make any payments towards her private loanPer Centura’s agreement with ***, we agreed to purchase Ms [redacted] ’ [redacted] debt of $ [redacted] loan+interest) on 5/11/11.Ms [redacted] did contact us again on 3/13/to set up payments of $ [redacted] to be ran every month, however the credit card she provided was declinedWe continued to attempt to contact her, however she never returned our phone calls or responded to our letters.We attempted to contact and make payment arrangements with Ms [redacted] for over a year and half, however were unable to reach Ms [redacted] Finally, on 9/28/we sold her account of $ [redacted] to an outside collection agency.It is unfortunate Ms [redacted] didn’t continue making payments with Centura College or reach out to usWhile her balance remained at the school, it wasn’t accruing interest and a $ [redacted] monthly payment is a reasonable monthly payment Although Ms [redacted] ’s account has been given to an outside collection agency, I’m sure if she contacted me directly I would like to try and assist her if possiblePlease let me know if you need further documentation or have additional questions.Thank you,Jana H***, Director Student Financial ServicesCentura College [redacted]
