Performance Telephone installed an IP PBX telephone system for the customerThe project included creating a networked
voice solution for five officesVPN tunnels were established so that the customer's broadband internet service could be used to " connect" their five offices for telephone interoperabilityThe customer agreed that all callers would be answered by an auto attendant that would direct their call to the appropriate office, i.e"dial for office #1, for office #2,etc." Although the system can be configured so that a caller requiring a specific office could be transferred directly to that office without an auto attendant, their twelve phone lines would need to be delivered via a SIP PRI/ISDN circuit to one locationThis solution requires additional equipment and more expenseThe current configuration reduced the number of phone lines that the customer was paying for in an efficient manner but an auto attendant is necessary, which the customer agreed toThe customer also liked the idea of his lines being terminated at two different locations in case there was a problem with one, which is how the system is installed today
In October I met with the customer who expressed a desire to change the setup of the system so that all the lines would come into one office in the form of a PRI circuit from the telephone company dial tone providerAs I explained, this solution requires the additional equipment and all the phone lines will need to be re-configured to terminate into one office on a new circuit from the telephone line providerAt that time, any caller who dials a telephone number for one office will be routed directly to that office to be answeredThe same will be the case for the other four officesthe customer agreed to proceed
The service was ordered from PowerNet Global, who will also be providing additional equipment which needs to be configured, tested and installedWe are close to receiving an installation date from Powernet Global so we can complete the project
I fully understand the customer's frustrationThis is a tedious process and I agree that it would be so much better if Powernet Global could have completed their work quickerThe customer also expressed frustration that he was not being kept informed of progressIn fact, there are dozens of telephone calls and dozens more emails between Performance Telephone and Powernet Global involved in this processWe do not typically bother our customers with the details of every communication regarding their project, but we have since included the customer in all correspondence with the different providers going forwardWe expect to have a firm installation date from Powernet Global any day
