Century Credit & Collections Reviews (27)

I will first begin with my absolute denial of ever "yelling" or usisng "scare tactics" with Ms. [redacted].  I advised her of her rights to dispute the item were 30 days from our first notice as the law states.  Our first letter was sent April 10, 2014.   She insisted that she...

never received any letters from us even though we've sent 4 separate letters.  She verified her address is correct.  We've never received any returned mail from her address.
The so called "threats" of reporting on her credit profile and advising our client to consider a small claims lawsuit against her and her husband are in fact true.  We are a collection agency.  That is what we do.
As for the 2 "partial messages" she alleges she received on her voicemail, she could have simply returned the call, the first of which was on May 23rd, 2014.  We didn't hear from her until yesterday, June 3rd, 2014.
Our client has no record of her husband cancelling this membership and advises us that her husband [redacted] went to their facility yesterday and told them that he and Stephanie never received any of their letters either.  They also verified that the address on file for them is correct and found it very hard to believe that the [redacted]s never received any statements or phone calls from them.
Our client has advised us to pursue this as usual and as a collection agency in the State of California, we intend to pursue this to the full extent of the law.
This account will NOT be cancelled.  If the [redacted]s wish to set up a payment arrangement, they will need to call us immediately, without the attitude, and we will be happy to work something out.
Respectfully,
[redacted] GM

This consumer should do her due diligence before filing a complaint against a company.  We do NOT have an account for this individual, nor do we have an [redacted] employed here. Also we do not collect for ITT.   Perhaps she is being contacted by Sentry Credit in Washington State.  Please...

note the spelling of SENTRY CREDIT.We have received numerous calls, similar to this consumers comments after the consumer Googles "Century Credit" and gets our information, including my name. Please remove this inaccurate complaint from our records immediately.Thank You,R[redacted],General ManagerCentury Credit, LLC###-###-####

Complaint: 11950681
I am rejecting this response because:R[redacted] is a liar his operator at first refused to do anything but reject the information I was giving them that I am a 100% disabled Veteran and that I have never had an account with the hospital he admits to working for. They both refused to remove the derogatory information of "Randall Lee Lackey" that they placed on my credit report. This is not a reputable agency in my opinion it seems more like a outfit filled with bottom feeders who prey on the ignorant trying to collect legally uncollectable accounts that have passed the statue of limitations. I was first treated rudely by the person who answered the phone and then by the owner and fact I am reporting to not only Experian but TransUnion and Equifax as well. I am also going to report his conduct to the state in hopes of having his license reconsidered...
Regards,

Review: We received two phone messages from [redacted] at Century Credit and Collection, one last Friday and one today, both of which were cut off so that it was unclear who was calling or why. Today I called back the phone number to find out what it was about. [redacted] informed me that he was from a collection agency and I owe a specific amount and wants to know if I'm going to pay it today. If I don't pay it today, it will be reported on my credit report and "other things." I asked what he meant by "other things" and he said that he is going to suggest to his client that they file a small claims case against me. All of this is news to me, there have been NO invoices, letters or phone calls. In my mind this account was closed years ago so this is coming out of the blue. I tried to tell [redacted] that I disagree with the case but he will hear nothing of it. I repeated several times that I disagreed and hadn't received any contact regarding this issue. He began to become increasingly belligerent. When I told him I didn't care about what he had to say, he began to yell at me and told me the conversation was over and hung up on me.First and foremost I dispute the claim. Secondly, I find the scare tactics and threats completely uncalled for and unprofessional. Third, there was NO contact prior to Friday and even those messages were partial/cut off with inadequate information. None of this seems to me like a legitimate way to do business.Desired Settlement: I would like Century Credit and Collection to drop this case as there is no foundation for it. The contract is question was a month to month contract which was cancelled due to health reasons that prohibited the use of the membership. My husband spoke directly with the manager of the fitness club at the time (over two years ago) explaining that he'd had surgery on both of his hands and would be unable to use the membership. No invoices, letters or phone calls were made to us following that.

Review: I was involved in a car

accident and was seen at a clinic, I was unable to pay my full bill due to my

injuries and not working. I understand that I must pay, understood not an

issue, honestly I had made payments but do to the stacking up of medical bills

this one slipped through the cracks, so when I received a bill from century

credit & collections it was a bit of a shocker. On the first bill I was

told I owed $64 and some change, I sent them a payment and next month I

received a bill for over $90. When I called to speak with them all were not

able to explain why I owed this extra money, but that I needed to pay. I

continue to receive further threatening calls from this company insisting that I

pay the money owed. I have asked them to please provide a print out why after

sending a $20 payment all of a sudden it was raised to $90, their explanation

is interest, and this is over 130% increase in a month. This is a completely

unprofessional company that verbally attacks when you don't respond with what

they would like to hear or if you ask questions.Desired Settlement: I am looking for them to simply correct my bill and I will

finish paying the amount owed plain and simple; however; I will not pay them

extra. I would also like this removed from my credit report considering it is

their error and their unwillingness to provide any requested itemized invoice.

Response:

Mr [redacted]n is making false statements regarding our NOT explaining the charges and the balance going from $64.00 to over $90.00.Our representative went over this in detail with him and his wife. His original bill from August 17, 2014 was in fact $60.00. Our first letter to him showed the original balance and clearly showed the total with fees and interest that accrued since last August. Our representative spoke with him 2 days ago on 7-29-2015 and he insisted that he paid $40.00 to us. She explained to him that he only paid $20.00, not $40.00 and he continued with his threats to report us to the Revdex.com, etc.At no time was anyone from this agency rude to this individual. On the contrary, his wife hung up on us on July 1, 2015 after usisng an certain expletive. This consumer can simply pay the amount that he owes and if paid by this Friday, July 31, 2015, I will have this removed from his credit profile when we do our credit reporting that day.Any further slanderous comments or attitude from this consumer will void this offer.[redacted], GM

Review: On April 8, 2015, I ran a credit report on myself and noticed Century Credit and Collections had sent me to collections for a $0 debt which showed it as originally $101. This debt was in my wife's name and occurred prior to me being married to her, somehow it is attached to my credit report. On April 9, 2015, I contacted Century Credit and Collection and talked with their general manager [redacted]. I attempted to explain the situation to Reynolds but he did not want to hear what I had to say, he was extremely rude and related the account has grown interest and I owed him $234. He related that he wanted this amount and would not take anything else nor wanted to hear me speak any further and if I said anything other than saying I would pay the $234 he would hang up on me. I attempted to talk to Reynolds and soon heard him hang up. I haven't been treated with such disrespect in a very long time. I figured Reynolds was having a bad day, as we all do sometimes, so I waited a few minutes before calling back, to give him time to cool down. After several minutes I called the business back and spoke with the secretary. She related Reynolds was refusing to speak with me and would not come to the phone. Not knowing what to do I immediately got on the computer and filed a complaint with the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: First of all I don't think I should assume someone else's debt, especially prior to our marriage. Secondly if I must to resolve this I am willing to pay the original amount owed by my wife $101. All I want is a resolution to this, to speak to someone with a cool head and that is reasonable, I don't feel I owe this debt, but I am still willing to pay the original amount to have it removed, not a 234% mark up. I want this reported to the credit bureau to be removed from my credit history.

Response:

I would like to begin with the facts, not the sugar coated version that Mr. [redacted] seems to think that happened. Mr. [redacted] first called us regarding this account on 08-24-2010. He gave us a hard time then as well and demanded, not asked for a settlement. I offered to accept 1/2 of his bill which he flat our refused to pay. This is for a health club membership for he and his wife that went past due on MArch 29th, 2010. The interest has been accruing since that date. Mr. [redacted] refused to pay more than the original $101.85 that was past due on that date in 2010 and demanded that we not only accept this amount, but that we delete it from his credit profile as well. We are only required to show a "paid in full status" once the entire balance is paid. Had Mr. [redacted] asked me to delete it if he paid the full balance, I would have agreed, but since his demands are unrealistic, I ended the call. I did not hang uop on him as he stated. I told him to "never call our agency again with his condescending attitude" and said "GoodBye".He called back less than 1/2 hour later and was told by our receptioninst that I would not take his call. He then said he would have his attorney call. Now this.He is welcome to pay the balance he owes, but we will not speak to him if he makes any more demands of us. Respectfully,[redacted], GM

Review: I had some dental work done and, apparently, a portion of it was not covered by my insurance. I was not notified that there was a balance due at the time I had the work done. One year later, I called the dentist to make another appointment and they notified me that I had a balance due, but that they were unable to notify me because they did not have the correct address. They told me that my address had been mixed up with another client's address in their computer system. I immediately went to my dentist's office and paid the bill in full ... no problem. At no time was I contacted by Century Credit & Collections.A year or so later, I notice $98 ding on my credit report from Century Credit and Collections. I call them to find for whom they are collecting. They say that they were given the account by my dentist but that it had been recalled after the address issue had been remedied and the bill paid. I ask them why they have $98 owing in my credit report and they tell me that is their collection fees even though it was originally my dentists mistake and the entire matter had been cleared up with my dentist without involving Century Credit and Collections. I tell them that is both illegal and unethical and I demand that they remove the ding on my credit report. They refuse and tell me to "Pound sand!" After arguing with the very rude individual, I tell them that I will pay the illegitimate and unethical fee if they completely remove the account from my 3 credit reports. I am again told to "Pound sand!"If I took them to court, I would absolutely win ... but who has the time over a $98 illegal credit report entry. Awful company ...Desired Settlement: Simple ... I want this account removed from all three of my credit reports immediately.

Response:

Mr. F[redacted] has fabricated this story from beginning to end. First of all, He has NEVER called our office despite numerous messages left on his voicemail, so his outrageous comments about anyone from this agency telling him to "pound sand" is ludicrous. No one from our client ever advised us of any issues with his address and he paid our client directly, one week after our sending his a statement, therefore his comments about us never notifying him are also false. It was 6 months after his date of service, not 1 year as he states. There is no truth whatsover to Mr. F[redacted]'s comments with the exception of that he "had dental services.Had Mr. F[redacted] actually called us and took care of this remamining balance, it is probable that we would have deleted it from all three credit bureaus, but since he has made the choice to attempt to slander our business, he can pay the balance in full and we will only change it to "paid" as all collections agencies are required to do. R[redacted], GM

Business

Response:

I will respond once again by categorically denying that anyone from our agency has ever used the term "pond sand" with P[redacted] or anyone else in the 30 plus years that we've been in business. His comments about his treatment by us is outrageous and completely made up by him. He never mention who said such a ridiculous statement to him... Twice, according to mr Fletcher.
