Century Decks

Review: Jim M[redacted] built an addition on to my existing deck so as to extend the deck by 4 and a half feet on March 15, 2014. For the work done on this addition, I was under the impression that Mr. M[redacted] was working under the contractor, [redacted] Handyman, LLC, which is the company that built the original deck. Mr. M[redacted] was on the crew of [redacted], and was the "main guy" on the project in February 2012. The original deck passed [redacted] County inspection and was built to code; so Mr. M[redacted] was aware of the code requirements when he built the addition to the deck. Mr. M[redacted] did not build the addition to the deck to code and additional work is now being done to correct the problem. The cost of the additional materials and labor to correct the problem is $820 ($600 in labor and $220 in materials). Materials include installation of (2) 6 X 6 X 12 Posts and 1 beam consisting of (2) 2 X 12 X 20 boards. Material also includes 9 bags of concrete, 2 post anchor bases, 2 post anchor bolts and 4 carriage bolts.

After several attempts to have Mr. M[redacted] come back to the site to correct the problem, (verified by phone records I have on file), I was unable to get him to return. He would promise to come out and then would not contact me back. I had to hire someone else to correct the problem.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded the costs of materials and labor in the amount of $820 which is the total cost to have the problem corrected. If Mr. M[redacted] declines to make me whole, I will pursue a more formal process in [redacted] County where I reside.
