Century Trinity Estates Reviews (2)

I am being denied a refundable deposit and admin fee after being denied from the apartment complex. My girlfriend and I applied for a two bedroom, two bathroom at Century Trinity Estates on May 25th, 2016 using the online system. I paid by debit card a $100 application fee, a $150 administrative fee as well as a $150 refundable deposit. Then immediately denied due to an eviction on my history. I disclosed this eviction to leasing associate, [redacted] at the time that I toured the property as well as on the application but she chose not to state that the community doesn't work with renters with evictions until after the denial came back. Upon being denied the unit, I expected to immediately receive the $150 administrative fee and the $150 refundable deposit back to my debit card; however, this was not the case. I sent an email to [redacted] regarding the refund of the deposit and admin fee and was informed that a check would be promptly mailed to me. I waited two weeks for the check, but it was never sent. I then visited the property to speak with [redacted] during office hours only to be told that "the system" indicated that I am not entitled to a refund of the admin fee or of the refundable deposit but that she will speak with the manager about the matter and get back to me. She did not state why "the system" does not have me listed for a refund. It has been a week since this conversation and no other correspondence has ensued. To verify that the deposit was in fact refundable I did have my girlfriend call the complex as a prospective renter and ask what happens if she is denied the unit after payment. The leasing associate on duty was [redacted] and informed her that an applicant that is denied will receive back the $150 administrate fee as well as the $150 refundable deposit.Desired SettlementAs of today, I have received neither my $300 deposit/fees nor any communications from you about the money. Business Response The case involving [redacted] and her deposit refund has been resolved on our end. She paid a $150 deposit which has been refunded to her. Consumer Response When speaking with your leasing consultant at the time of application. We were upfront and honest about the fact that we would be applying with a previous eviction on our rental history. This was disclosed both to [redacted] in person as well as written on the application. She chose to never inform us that your property does not work with renters with an eviction on their rental history. She chose to take the money knowing that a denial was inevitable; not even giving us the option to apply knowing your policy. For this reason, we are requesting the administrative fee of $150 back. Had she been honest and as upfront as we were, time would not have been lost by either party. I believe that this is a reasonable request. And I believe that simply giving away $250 dollars (the application and admin fee) would be quite disheartening for anyone.

My roommate and I have been dealing with multiple issues since October 2015 with our apartment complex. Please see email we sent to the property manager-Hello,Unfortunately, after dealing with the issue since October 2015 and despite numerous requests to have it fixed, the fireplace in our apartment continues to leak around the seal now with large soft spots that your finger can go right through. Also, [redacted] and I have noticed water spots appearing on our ceiling above the fireplace. (pictures of everything are attached)Additionally, I heard some dripping noises coming from the water heater closet yesterday, and it appears that our AC unit has been dripping water as well - who knows for how long as there seems to be water stains along the wall and standing water at the bottom of the water heater. (picture attached) Further, [redacted] has been unable to use her closet since the mold problem had been "fixed" and not professionally tested to ensure a clean quality of air. Her closet continues to wreak of a mold smell. Both of us have been to the doctor and had respiratory issues confirmed as occurring from the water leakage/mold problem in our unit.Something else I recently discovered is a hole in the wall between the mirrors in my bathroom. I cannot believe I have been living here for about 10 months with a HOLE in the wall in my bathroom. (picture also attached)We must have all of these items taken care of immediately as these issues have been going on for far too long. Further, I think it is utterly ridiculous how we are continued to be charged for full rent when you have provided us with such an awful unit to live in and have not done enough to fix our issues. We have provided well over a 60-day notice that we will NOT be renewing any lease with this property under the current management. We are very unsatisfied with this rental property.Desired SettlementOur apartment has said they will fix the matter and have been out to "fix" both the mold and water leaks but they are still there. We would like them fixed and also money back, we have been taken advantage of and have been sick due to these issues. This is the worst management and he needs to be reported.Business Response [redacted] and [redacted] reported a roof leak which was causing a leak in the master bathroom and closet area in October 2015. A contractor came and repaired the rood leak in that area. They reported a different small dripping leak around their fire place in November 2015. We had a different contractor come out to make those repairs. A couple of days later they reported that it was still leaking, so we contacted the same contractor to come back and make all repairs needed. The office was not informed until late December 2015 that the issue was still happening. We called a different contractor to come and make repairs to the chimney area. Unfortunately the area needed another repair which was completed on 4/5/2016. Repairs were also needed to the area around the fireplace, which were taken care of that same day. The residents were given $100 off their December rent and $200 off their April rent to compensate for the inconvenience. We also installed dehumidifiers during the first repair as a precaution in the event there was additional water build up.
