Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: This response is riddled with untruths I bid on this lot based on five catalog images which clearly don't show that this table has several cracks in the stretcher finial, several losses (which are concealed with stain and the marble top), and what I believe is to be another repair not disclosed to me prior to bidding This auction house may sell thousands of items to thousands of satisfied customers but the fact is that they defrauded me of $by not describing this lot accurately and leading me to believe that the only defect on this table is an old repair They make an issue of the fact that I've had the table for almost a year but the truth is that I am a disabled individual with chronic illness and do not have the strength and stamina to battle a dishonest, money motivated business like this They state that I threatened them and called them names but I would share that e-mail with any impartial party without shame or embarrassment The bottom line is that this business is motivated by profit with no concern for the harm they may cause an unsuspecting, uninformed internet bidder I for my part live in a house chock full of successful purchases and am motivated by the appreciation of well cared for antique items and do not like being forced to keep a derelict item that really has no place in my home Sincerely, [redacted]

From: *** *** *** Sent: Wednesday, March 22, 1:PM To: *** Subject: *** *** Good morning I would like to comment on the proceeding of this complaint reNadeau's Auction Gallery, Inc First of all, there are ethical and unethical businesses which I'm sure the Revdex.com already knows Specifically, there are ethical and unethical auction houses Some auction houses strive to maintain a reputation of honesty and when describing their lots they go out of their way to point out flaws that affect the value and desirability Then there are other auction houses that are just in it for the money and will take any opportunity to defraud their bidders if they can get away with it Nadeau's states that they have been in the business for over years, well I have been collecting and selling antiques for over years I buy with the intent to keep or resell at some later date They apparently sell with the intent to make money for themselves and their consignors If none of their buyers has ever been defrauded before, all I can say is they've just been luckier than I Before bidding on the lot in question, I asked several questions regarding condition because the catalog only contained five images taken from a distance and I needed to know more They assured me that the only condition issue was an old repair which I was willing to accept Now they are claiming that they disclosed other issues which I can assure you would have precluded me from bidding at all I just want to emphasize that these people are in business to make money and will do or say anything to achieve that end I collect antiques for the appreciation of their workmanship and condition I have literally a house full of successful purchases that I keep and enjoy The only lot I bought from this auction house is definitely not one of them If I am forced to keep it because I have no recourse I will dispose of it however I can, accepting the fact that I have been defrauded and will just have to live with the loss It appears that sometimes we are just going to have to accept living in a society where lies are becoming the accepted norm and truth the rare exception

[redacted] can see as much in our five photos online as we can if he were to blow up the photos. Possibly, we missed something, as did he with our photos. Most knowledgeable people also ask for more close-up photos of more valuable pieces.   All that being said, we would offer to give [redacted] back his $687.50 if he wants to ship the table back to us, or we could offer him $300.00 and he can keep the table or sell it in his area for $400-800 and make money on it.  It would be up to him.   We feel that this is more than fair since we are a year from the date of purchase.  No auction house, anywhere, guarantees property for a year.   Many of our descriptions say “chips, cracks, or repairs” we just didn’t see it and possibly some other issues happened in transport. Thank you, [redacted]

[redacted] purchased a table from us almost one year ago, on April 2, 2016. He emailed us on May 6, 2016 stating that there was damage he wasn't aware of. We responded immediately that we had told him about the damage via phone and that it was photographed online, which he bid online based on the...

photographs. We waived storage fees of $150.00 to try to appease him. Our terms are very clear and he agreed to them when he clicked the button stating that by registering to bid he agrees to them. I apologize that he did not view the damage that was photographed but I don't know what he expects us to do a year later as we definitely cannot take a table back after he has used it for a year. I can provide a copy of the terms that he agreed to as well as photos showing the damage. I can also provide the email correspondence that took place in which he threatened us and called us names. We have been in business for over 30 years and have a impeccable reputation. We sell 1000's of items every year to 1000's of people and have not ever had a complaint like this.
