CertaGreen Company Reviews (2)

We hired CertaGreen to renew our hardwood floors December 2013. We paid in full day of service but they did not stand behind inferior workWe hired CertaGreen to renew our downstairs hardwood floors December 2013. CertaGreen came out Dec 3, and completed the work floors. Since we had to be out of the house, I left town and paid in full (personal check for $805). We were sent pictures of the floors which looked fine, but when I returned to see in person 36 hours later there were major problems. I sent the owner a text Dec 4th late in day saying there were some issues, and would like them to come back out. December 10th I sent a follow up text saying I am very concerned that there was something wrong with the finish and it is peeling up in many places. The owner came out and spent @ an hour re-doing a few areas but left and said he would be back. CertaGreen never came back. I called multiple times and sent texts all of which I have on my phone still. Finally in March they replied to one of my messages saying "we are almost at the 90 day cure time and that they will schedule a "re-do" buff and coat in April, saying they will send an emial. CertaGreen never sent an e-mail to schedule, and after many more so I sent them more follow up texts. CertaGreen finally replied and we agreed verbally to let them come the week of July 7 while we were on vacation so that the floors could dry with no one in house. I called and texted mid June asking that they come by in person to go over what exactly would be done and how to get the key for entry. No reply. June 19th I texted that we need a written commitment so that we can plan this and also we needed to have our dogs kenneled so that the work could be done (instead of having a pet sitter come to house) No reply I sent multiple texts even one stating we are considering getting the TV[redacted] to get involved. No reply. We went on our vacation assuming with no communication from CertaGreen that they were not going to do the work. We then get a call the first day of our vacation stating they are at our house to do the work. It was very clear they had no intention of doing the work since he had not replied to any of my calls/texts. We tried to reschedule once again when we got back in town with no reply. We also gave them the option of just reimbursing the $805, and we would get another company to fix. They did not reply to that.We are now left with floors in worse shape than they were prior to having Certa Green "re-newing" them. The entire downstairs is covered in small bubbles, scratches and uneven finish. I have copies of all texts as well as the image of the check. Desired SettlementWe are asking for full reimbursement of the inferior finish left on our floors. $805.

Certagreen did a poor job refinishing our hardwood floors. They later failed to correct issues, and were subsequently very rude and unprofessional.I hired Certagreen to "re-surface" the hardwood floors in my home on Feb. 8th. They didn't show up. We arranged for them to come on Feb. 9th- they showed up late. The job entailed removing the existing finish with a buffing/sanding machine, vaccuming and cleaning up any remaining dust/dirt, and applying an oil-based semi-gloss finish.Upon completion, I was told to stay off the floors (the entire first floor of the house) for at least 3 days, or longer if possible. I paid them at this time.I stayed out of the entire 1st floor of the house for a full week to allow maximum drying/curing time for the finish. After a week, I entered the first floor to inspect the work. There were several issues, with the most serious being that the floor finish in the living room and dining room areas having a much higher gloss than in the hallway and bedrooms. This was quite clear where the hallway lead into the living room area. Also there were several areas in which the floor was not properly cleaned and prepared- the finish was basically applied over dirt on the floor. There are other areas where the product was allowed to "pool", creating visibly uneven areas. Some corners were also missed entirely. Also, the shoe molding, which is painted white, had been stripped of the paint in many places by Certagreen's machinery.I contacted Certagreen to request that they come back and fix these issues. I was treated quite rudely, and was all but called a liar by the tech who did the work, [redacted]. I ended up speaking to [redacted], supposedly their regional manager. I asked that a different tech be assigned to come back and correct the issues. I was told that they only have one person in this area, and if I wanted the issues addressed, it would have to be the same person.I reluctantly agreed to allow [redacted] to come back on Feb. 15th. At first, he tried to act as if he couldn't see what I was talking about! I had a witness there, who said they could clearly see the issues. [redacted] finally acknowledged the high-gloss/low-gloss issue, and the areas where they didn't properly prepare the floor. We agreed on the date of March 4th for them to address these issues. On March 4th [redacted] attempted to repair the problems. For the largest problem, he attempted to "stagger" the higher gloss finish in several places into the hallway, by using blue painter's tape to mark off areas of the floor, then re-applying the higher-gloss finish within the boundaries of the tape on the floor. When done, I was told to stay off the treated areas for at least two days, longer if possible. I waited a week before returning to the area that had been patched.Upon inspection, it was clear the attempted "staggering" effect did not work. All it did was change the stark straight line between the glossy finish of the living room and low-gloss finish in the hallway to strips of higher gloss of various lengths extending into the low-gloss of the hallway. Even worse, the applied product had a reaction to the adhesive of the blue painter's tape, completely ruining the finish everywhere tape had been applied.I contacted Certagreen on March 27th to report these problems that would need to be addressed. Their response was to call me a liar, mis-state the size and scope of the work they had performed on March 4th, and to state I had told them I was completely satisfied with the work when they left on that day. They very clearly stated they had no intention of doing anything to rectify these issues. They said all of this without even gave me a chance to explain the issues I was attempting to report! After this, I disputed the charges through my credit card company. The credit card company ruled in my favor and reimbursed me for the full cost of the work. Now, on November 4th, a representative of the company called me to collect what I supposedly owe them! They informed me that they WOULD get their money by putting a lien against the property!Desired SettlementWhen the representative called today attempting to collect, I told him the ONLY acceptable solution would be for a totally different team to come re-do the work. If they are not agreeable to re-doing the work, without me ever having to deal with [redacted] again, they need to stop harassing me for payment.I didn't have room to state in the complaint summary- I had another floor finishing company prepare a written estimate of what it would cost to correct the issues left behind by Certagreen. Their estimate states: "Due to the poor craftsmanship on finish application, the floor needs to be completely resanded and finished." I'll be happy to provide any and all documentation, including pictures, if needed.Business Response This matter has been addressed/resolved as of March 2013. Just about eight months back by refunding below mentioned. Therefore a bit confused as to why the below mentioned is looking to place a complaint almost 1yr later. If there is further Information needed based on below stated Information. I will be more than happy to provide. Regards, [redacted]CertaGreen XXXXXXXXXXFinal Consumer Response Clearly Certagreeen did not read the complaint where I clearly state my reasons for filing this complaint. Certagreen contacted ME on November 4th 2013, attempting to collect the money they lost when Visa sided with me and reversed the charges I had paid, after I proved that Certagreen did sub-standard work and then refused to fix the problems they left behind. That is NOT the same thing as a refund. They threatened to take me to court to collect. Does that sound like something that a company which had provided a refund would do? I am the one who WOULD BE taking THEM to court, IF Visa had not decided in my favor and reversed the charges. The cost to properly repair the problems they left behind are triple what they originally charged! The correct response from Certagreen is that they agree in writing to not pursue collections, end all contact, and never bother me again.
