[no matter what you feel I paid for, I signed a contract and that work was not upheldthe ONLY reason I paid in full was to get the warranty because thats what *** your husband told me to dohe said if it wasn't paid in full no warranty would be available I have over pictures from the day work started until the day it was completed time stamped and datedif you want to not uphold your end of the contract that is fine, but legal action will be taken. I will attach a copy of the contract that states all loose paint will be scraped the pictures I provided are AFTER the job was complete.

We did scrape all the loose paint.  The pictures show exactly what happens when old layers of paint remain on the wood.  Until all of the pre-existing paint is removed, it will continue to peel as it weathers.  The only way to prevent it is to completely remove all of the old layers of paint.  As stated in his enclosure of the contract we "scrape loose and peeling paint and Feathersand rough edges."  It specifically states "a smooth finish should not be expected."  He did not contract us to remove all of the existing paint. We did the work that we were contracted to do.  The warranty does not cover his concerns.  Our warranty specifically states we do not cover "peeling of layers of paint existing prior to the work performed by the Contractor".

Customer contacted us to paint his one story ranch.  His own words were he wanted a little scraping and prep.  One finish coat.  He said he had painted his two sheds and didn't have time to do the house.   He stated he didn't have much money to work with and wanted to know if we...

had different levels of painting.  I told him we would power wash the house, scrape any loose and peeling paint, giving extra attention to the trim on the back right side of the house.  We would spot prime when we got to bare wood and give one finish coat.  We would not be using mechanical sanders.  He wanted a basic paint job.  All of that was done.  He provided the paint for us to match for the color.  We painted some of the house and when it was pointed out to be the wrong color, we went back and had a remix done.  Part of his house has two coats.  There were a couple of areas where a small amount of overspray got on the foundation.  We cleaned it with a wire brush not a grinder.  The paint drops on the windows were also cleaned off.  The paint is latex and comes off very easily.  There was some paint that got on the edge of the deck board where it meets the house.  We offered to paint his deck for him.  He chose not to.  I am not aware of any paint on the driveway.  All of the touch ups and cleaning was done and he paid us in full.During his walk through's he complained of peeling paint which was in fact old mapping (when multiple layers of paint are visible but still secure) not peeling.  The house has been painted numerous times.  There was no expectation of removing all the old paint.  He wanted a "little scraping and prep".  His budget did not allow for anything more.  He was the one who made that decision. He contacted me in March stating that he had peeling issues.  I told him we would get out there to take a look when the weather broke.  I went out in June and walked around with his wife.  I was surprised because the house looked very nice.  She showed me a couple of areas which were chipped or damaged from when he had a water line attached just under the bottom layer of his siding.  There are scuff marks from something else.  I did not see any peeling as he states.  If there is paint peeling down to the bare wood, that is not due to what we put on.  That would be a cause of the wood fibers deteriorating because of time.  It is a common misconception when after that most recent application is applied it is the painter's fault.  It isn't necessarily.Mr. [redacted] didn't ask or pay for a job that involved heavy scraping and sanding with mechanical sanding.  Attached are a couple of before and after photos.

As previously stated, customer wanted an inexpensive job.  He wanted and paid for scraping of loose and peeling paint, spot prime any surfaces that were bare wood and one finish coat.  Now he wants us to provide him with a job which he never paid for in the first place.  Our warranty does not cover conditions of peeling paint from previous paint jobs.  As he claims, but I did not witness, there is peeling paint down to the bare wood.  That is not a result of anything we did.  I have attached the warranty. We provided the work as described in his contract.  We continued to do "touch ups" because of the condition of the shingles.  He signed off on the job and we were paid.
