do not hire Joshua D or Ashley B D regardless of the company they work for, own, or represent. They've made numerous inaccurate representations, did not obtain permits (until forced to when the job was almost complete), and had to rip almost everything they did out to accommodate inspections. Josh talked "big" about how he went to college to learn construction and engineering, and his company does "value engineering" and doesn't need to hire engineers, etc. Hmmm. when they were finally forced to obtain a permit, they HAD to hire an engineer who said the original "value-engineered" work the framers did (and Josh approved) was insufficient to hold up our ceiling/roof. When forced to obtain the permit, they wanted to set it up as a basic "kitchen remodel" when it was actually removing load bearing walls, and other more extensive work (we had another firm set to install the cabinets). Fortunately the city got involved and the permit correctly states the work done (and is not misleading). But...now we're stuck having our house torn apart for almost 3 months while Ashley & Josh blame everyone but themselves for the "missing" permit issue. These folks have no employees with contractors licenses; an outside person is the "qualified" contractor, and now that he's involved (he is very reputable and works well with the City's and out expectations) we're hopeful we'll have our remodel project done in the next 3 to 4 weeks. Josh and Ashley talk a good story, and the original subs they brought in did fairly good work but once they were forced to do the work in line with FL building codes things went downhill fast. Also, was interesting that subcontractors were calling us asking for money for the work they did. All I can say is stay far away from these folks. And, if they did work for you previously and it was anything more than taking down old cabinets and putting up new cabinets, you might want to have it all double checked. we have an attorney on retainer, and the last thing we want to do is get into a legal battle. We never in a million years thought we'd be living this nightmare. I could write a book about the problems but think anyone reading this should get the idea that this is NOT the firm or the people you want remodeling your home or business. I'm sure they'll try to quell fears (about this review) by saying that we asked for too much, were unreasonable, or just wanted changes for free, or some other excuse, but consider one thing - they pass themselves off as a construction remodeling company and did not pull permits until a month after the project started (and we asked the project manager for a copy of the permit from day 1). was that really an oversight? Was the project manager really that inept that he was able to pull off not getting a permit and keeping that to himself? would you seriously believe those excuses if used to try to downplay this review? There are other, more reputable firms out there - use them instead. these folks weren't the cheapest either. we chose them based on (what we thought was) their professionalism, great reviews, and good work on other projects. Price was only part of the total consideration. I'm glad the man with the contractor's license is truly professional, and customer service oriented.
