Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Cac Plastics has responded to my complaint with statements that contradict the recorded phone calls I have had with the businessTheir first claim is false, as I never once in person or over the phone had a conversation with the owner, Steve A***, until the day the boat was completed, at which time I was at last told a final cost which couldn't be described as 'a simple repair' which was the term agreed upon in the phone call recorded on July,28th at 1:29pm, nearly weeks after the boat was originally dropped offFurthermore, in all correspondence (phone calls and in person the day the boat was dropped off) with the business there was never once any mention of material costs or a boat lift fee even when directly asked if the repair would be based upon an hourly rate or notAs of July 28th, after the boat had already been placed into the lift, I was told that I had not been charged anything to date which was mentioned in the recording starting at 4:30pm the same dayAlso, the reference of my persistence that the boat be repaired in a timely manner stems from the business taking nearly a month to tackle a job that was described to be completed in under two weeksI had family arriving in town and made, in part, my decision to attempt the repair based on the businesses open schedule, described in detail during the recording on July, 7th. I will be attaching the audio files in a separate email this evening and encourage the Revdex.com and CAC Plastic to review these audio files before claiming anything other than the factsLastly, at the end of the businesses response to my compliant there is wording that threatens the action of a mechanics lien upon my property if the repair is not paid for by 5pm, AugustNo specific date was mentioned to me and I would hope the business refrain from any action until some efforts have been made to correct any miscommunications that lead to this dispute.Sincerely, *** *** ***

Mr.[redacted] brought in his Bayliner Capri on 7/11/2016 for repair.  The damage was to the hull where a small hole was visable.  Steve A[redacted] (Owner) examined the boat and spoke with customer via telephone about the damage.  Steve discussed the estimate with customer, telling him that it...

was impossible to give a firm estimate until the exterior laminate was removed.  The small hole in the exterior laminate of the hull was not representative of the damage to the core and interior laminate.  Fiberglass factures upon impact.  The hole was all the way through the exterior and interior laminates.  This required removing laminates by cutting and grinding.  Replacement laminates of core, fiberglass mat, X-mat and resin were applied to about a foot square area. Sanded and fared, the Gray gel-coat was applied.
The customer was persistent in calling about repair but not estimate.  He expressed urgency in getting repair completed as he needed the boat for a planned family event on August 6, 2016.  Our shop schedule has been heavy all summer and we were working his repair into the schedule. Customer never voiced concerns about price until pick-up of boat, after it was loaded back on the trailer and ready to go- 6:30 Friday evening, August 5, 2016.  He expressed at that time that he was not prepared for the cost of the repair. He was going to "see what he could come up with".  We moved the boat back into our shop for safe keeping.
We have always tried to give our customers our best service, but with heavy scheduling is a challenge.  Therefore, the pricing for this repair was very conservative.  The boat lift fee was a minimum charge(boat had to come off of the trailer to be repaired), 6.5 hours of labor reflected only on Technician completing repair, no charge for Steve who assisted on repair.  Materials were conservative as no additional fee for colored gel-coat or consumable goods (safety supplies, gloves, abrasives, rage, etc) usually a 10% fee of the labor cost.
We are confident in the repair we completed on this boat and all costs are justified.
Boat must be paid in full and removed from CAC property by 5:00 PM August, 2016 to prevent further action.  We are prepared to proceed with a "Full Price" Mechanic Lien.
