Certified Movers contracted to do a interstate move , our goods are being held hostage -fraudulent sales practices, no management oversight
We contracted with Certified Mover Inc - Georgia to move our household goods from Illinois to Florida. Troy the sales person promised us that they were the movers themselves registered with DOT. their service included protecting the furniture in blankets, and protecting one fragile item with boxes at a fee. He also promised that they would hold our furniture in Florida until our arrival on the 08 June. Contract mentioned delivery within 5 to 8 days of pick up. A binding estimate was provided with a deposit of approx. 995 in advance to schedule pick up which was for 23 May, 23 on pick up and rest on delivery. On day of pick up the movers showed up on time with a Penskey rental truck and explained they did this customarily for small move pick up - but then would consolidate several moves together in a Certified truck. They began packing and asked if we need to wrap some items in cardboard etc , without explaining that they would charge 15 dollars a card board sheet and extra for tape. At end of day they charged 500 dollars extra for cardboard box and sheets. we could not reach salesperson since it was a weekend to clarify extra charges. An invoice was provided and we were asked to pay 2/3 of the total moving amount which we paid by check and they demanded a 200 dollar tip which they wanted in cash and asked us to sort out charges with salesperson during the week. Subsequently we left several messages with no response from sales person. a dispatcher calls on 24th and we mention that we would drive to Florida and be ready to receive goods on 08 Jun. we drive to Florida for 20 hours to get their on the 08 Jun, in the meanwhile do not hear from Certified movers after repeated calls. Morning of the 8th we make several calls to Certified Movers do not get any response -finally get hold of a dispatcher Judie Blume who says she has no knowledge of my goods or delivery status, and gets abusive when I ask for additional information. . We get hold of Troy via text - he refuses to call back and keeps saying that we needed to deal with dispatch. that evening a dispatcher calls with conflicting stories. he mentions our goods are still in Illinois, he does not know when they will deliver, we try to call customer service for Certified and sales and cannot reach anyone by telephone after several messages. The salesperson Troy refuses to help or return phone calls. on the 9th a dispatcher calls and say our check bounced - and we now need to make a direct deposit to a company called Pick up Movers LLC - before they will pick up goods from Illinois, and will not load our goods until we have paid up the 2/3 amount to Pick Up movers instead of Certified Movers. at this point our goods are being held hostage. we do not know when we will get our household goods, where they are being kept and who is accountable. This is a stressful situation with a bait and switch sales tactics and a potential that we may not see our lifes worth of memory and furniture. Certified Movers is not taking accountability on follow up or delivery, the reviews on Pick Up Movers are scary and we did not know those are the folks we are dealing with. They are abusive and elusive and at this point its almost like paying ransom for releasing our goods.
I am now reading reviews that if I do not pay up I may never see my goods and when I do they will be in broken and damaged condition. I am nervous that there will be no insurance coverage for lost, missing goods because I cannot get hold of Certified movers.

Desired Outcome

I would like my household goods to be delivered in good condition as soon as possible - due date was 08 of Jun. Someone from business should contact me with a definite schedule and explanation of what is going on, who I am dealing with and next steps if I do not get my goods or if they are damaged

The client was given an estimate for an interstate move which can take up to 30 days to complete especially with the current pandemic environment which has slowed down shipping due to safety practices put into place and driver shortages we are providing the contarcted service within the specified timeline and the client had excessively extra goods to ship that were not disclosed at ththe time of the estimate resulting in additional cost .

There needs to be a negative star rating. This company will make your life a living ***. Have never dealt with a company where there is so much corruption, incompetence, lies, and outright theft. This company deserves to go bankrupt and I will do everything in my power to try and make that happen. There's nothing "certified" about them. They use inexperienced teenage labor, random help from Craigslist Ads, and couldn't care less about the protection of your household goods, which I'm certain is because none of them have ever owned anything of value or worth protecting. Stay away from this group of thieves. NOTHING is as they promise...NOTHING!!

Certified Liars is a better fitting name. This organization is corrupt. They misrepresent themselves to get your business or steal your money. This is a nasty band of thieves.

UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY) I have moved several times, by several companies all across the U.S. by far the worst moving experience I have ever had was with this company. If I can give no stars I would have. The initial representative (Troy) was helpful at the beginning (that's about it), after signing the agreement and the company taking my deposit he was not heard from again (regarding my concerns with my new price). I supplied the items I wanted to move, the description and measurements were given, the quote was given to me, after the movers arrived, the quote went up over 800.00 dollars. Then the delivery date was scheduled for 4 days later, I received my shipment 11 days later. The dispatch women (Jackie) was unprofessional and failed to call me back numerous times. Management was not concerned, when asked to speak to a supervisor the dispatcher would not supply a phone number, or name and would not relay my concerns to supervision. This business takes advantage of there so called estimate. Do not use this company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I urge anyone looking to use this company to please reconsider. This was by far the worst experience of my entire life! I filled out a form on Movers.com and was contacted by a sales rep named Troy. Troy was very nice, knowledgeable, and responded in a timely manner. That was the only good part of the experience that I had.

They scheduled my moving day for anywhere between 2-3pm on a Tuesday afternoon. By 3pm on that day the movers had not arrived. I had to call dispatch in order to receive a callback from the driver, who informed me that he was having engine trouble and would not arrive until 6pm. 6pm came and went and despite several calls to dispatch, the drivers did not arrive until 7:30. When the drivers arrived they informed me that they, in fact, did not have engine trouble but had received a call the evening before that they needed to come from Pennslyvania to St. Louis overnight. After the movers did a walkthrough of the unit, they said that the original quote of 450 cubic feet was an underestimate and the actual amount was about double that. Which in turn doubled my estimate from $2k to over $4k! After receiving this information, I attempted to cancel my move and figured I would just eat the $700 deposit I had paid before the move.

I was then informed by the GM over the phone that I would be charged a $800 cancellation fee, and that if I did not pay the fee they would take me to court and collections. In the end, I was forced to pay over double the estimated amount for the move. During this time I tried to contact dispatch, my sales rep, or just about anyone else at the company to no avail. No one returned my calls or even called me back the following day. In the end, the movers did not finish packing my stuff until 3am. The delivery a few days later of course was delayed by several hours as well. The following day I talked to their dispatcher who apologized about the situation and stated she would look into what had happened and called me back. She did not call me back... All in all an absolutely terrible experience and I would not use them ever again.
