Review: We had Cesar's Exterior Design relandscape our entire yard. The original agreement included installing a complete irrigation system, replacing a fence, all new plants and completely redoing a backyard putting green. Cesar [redacted] Jr, the President, told me in person that he had done "many" putting greens in the past and that our satisfaction was paramount to him. The original agreement had us pay him in installments, with the final installment to be paid at the total completion of the project. We were initially very satisfied with his commitment and service and had no reason to be concerned. He did ask for the final payment to be made slightly before the project was completed. As we had no issues at that point, we made the final payment. Immediately following that, his work crews did not show up to complete the job. At that time we had difficulty getting in touch with Mr. [redacted], and he only contacted us after we sent him an e-mail stating that we were about to take legal action against him. He was apologetic and came out and completed the original job (we thought). However, it was very evident at the conclusion of the project that he did not have experience in installing putting greens. The result was not satisfactory at all with the artificial green being very bumpy and wavy and unplayable. He did try to fix it, but he finally admitted it was unfixable and would need to be redone. We had a professional company ([redacted]) come out and look at the putting green and they said it would have to be redone and gave us a quote. Mr. [redacted] was present at that meeting as well. The original contract with Mr. [redacted] had a quote of approximately $6000 for the putting green, and [redacted] quoted us $5000 with the stipulation that Mr. [redacted] would "prep" the job by pulling up the turf he had laid, installing two drains, and bringing in more fill dirt. Mr. [redacted] agreed to do this at no charge. He also gave us a verbal commitment to pay us for 1/2 of the new job (which we thought was a very fair agreement...we could have requested a complete refund of $6000 he charged us). The day before [redacted] was scheduled to start work, Mr. [redacted]'s crew did come out and pulled up the old turf, but they didn't do anything else that he had promised would be done. The work crew from [redacted] then started work the next day and had to install the drains and bring in more fill dirt (that Mr. [redacted] had agreed to already have there) and we were charged more fore this extra work. Also, the original irrigation system that Mr. [redacted] was to get up and running still had one area (from a previous drip irrigation) that was not working. I had pointed this out to him and he dug up that area "to see what he needed to correct it", but he nor his crew has been back out to our house since. That one area remains dug up with irrigation tubing fully exposed. I have left multiple voice mails for him, have texted him on his phone and have sent multiple e-mails as well trying to get him to contact me but everything has gone unanswered. We have since learned through your website that the contractors license for Cesars Exterior Designs expired in May of this year, after they had started work on our house, but we were never informed of this by Mr. [redacted]. As the multiple attempts at contacting him have gone unanswered, we have no choice but to file a complaint.Desired Settlement: At this point we do not want Mr. [redacted] or Cesars Exterior Designs to perform any more work at our house, especially in light of their contractors license expiring. We would like him to honor his verbal commitment to pay for half of the cost of redoing the putting green ($3,000 total...half of the original cost of $5,000 plus the extra $500 that we were charged by [redacted] to do the prep work that Mr. [redacted] had agreed to do at no cost).
