My name is Shel M***, president of Chagrin Valley Custom Furniture and below are some comments to her complaint and a solution:
The project cost not the she claims
I did indeed make a mistake by screwing the tip
of a screw through the base of her hall treeThe whole screw did not go through and the hole is very small, approximately pinhole size
I never would say to a valued client don’t “Have a Heart Attack” *** is a fine person and I don’t talk to people like that
While very attractive, her hall tree is not an antique, it is a stock piece of furniture sold to anyone who wants to buy it on the internet
My proposed settlement:
I have offered to *** on numerous occasions to come to her house, pick up the piece and bring it back to my shop or go it at her house and restore it to its original conditionThe furniture is not ruined by any stretch of the imagination, it has a small screw hole that can be fixed with one to two hours of workI am a year practicing furniture maker and repair craftsman that this can be restored back to perfect
All *** says is that that hall tree is ruined and she does not want any attempt to fix it, only that I should but here a new one for This is like some who hits your car, dents your fender and the only resolution is to give you a new car
I empathize with *** as this was a sentimental piece that her and her late husband bought togetherIf this piece is so sentimental why not fix it as it is an original piece? I pray one day she will see things differently and allow me to do the job that I know how to do
Last but not least I would like to say to ***, “ I am sorry” as I have said to her many times beforeHopefully one day she will forgive me and allow me to help her to try to make things right
