I rented an apartment from Chalk & Gibbs and they only gave me $500.00 of my deposit money back.I leased a condo at [redacted] street[redacted] from Chalk & Gibbs from August of 2014 to June 2015. The lease stated that I would be refunded my deposit of $1350.00 if the condo was clean and someone leased when I moved out. I showed the condo to a prospective leasee and he loved it and said it was spotless and agreed to lease which he did. Chalk & Gibbs said I left my lease early and they had to clean the condo. I knew that the carpet would cost $75.00 to clean but I would get the rest of my deposit returned. They did not return my money and the condo is rented. They only returned $500.00 of my deposit money. I complied with all the rules when I lived at the condo and left the premises cleaner than when I moved in. I expect Chalk & Gibbs to hold true to the lease agreement just as I did. This is bad business practice. I expect to receive the remainder of my deposit as this is the right thing to do.Desired SettlementI expect to receive the remainder of my deposit returned to me. In the sum of $1350.00 minus the $500.00 already received and minus the $75.00 leaving the sum of $775.00 to be refunded to me. I moved out due to the high criminal activity that I did not feel safety for me or my 11 year old son. Thank you [redacted]Business Response [redacted]Document Attached[redacted]The tenant only paid a $650 security deposit when she signed a one year lease with us on 8/11/14 which the attached documents will clearly show. I am also including a copy of the check she submitted to us at that time along with a copy of her signed lease which again shows her security deposit amount paid. We worked very hard to help this tenant once she broke her lease and moved out with only a couple of days notice to us. We invite her to feel free to contact us if she has any further questions or concerns. Please find all documentation attached.
