I did some work for this customer, Uncle [redacted]. Last year I repaired his roof with another guy and I was supposed to repair the rest of his home: dry wall, painting, etc. I was supposed to do the work to get it ready for him to move in. He explained to me that he did not have much money and would see...

if he could get a loan. He asked what I could it done for and I told him I could probably get roof and drywall done for under $10,000. He asked if I could do it any cheaper and I said I could do the roof but the insulation would have to be replaced because it had gotten wet. I explained that we would have to use Kilz to kill the mold before we could paint. I told him that if he bought the materials I could get it done cheaper. He said he could not do both at the same time. I gave him a price for the roof. He asked if we could split the scrap metal in the basement and I said that would be fine. I explained the drywall work would be about $1,500. He then was having trouble purchasing the home and I tried to help. I even went to the lawyer's office with him. He ended up wanting someone else to do the work cheaper. I did not worry about it. About a month and a half to two months ago I received a message from him and I decided that I was not going to call him. A few weeks before Thanksgiving he called again and I called him back. He said that the roof was leaking. I told him I was busy but we would come out when we could. He said that was fine and he had more work for me. He then said the paint was peeling, that someone else did, which meant the roof was leaking. This is not true. The paint job was not done properly and if he did not have the insulation replaced that mold would come back. If I go back and fix the work, done by others, I would charge for the work to be done. I am not going to correct someone else work for free. I don't want this to be on my record.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
Some of the stuff we wrote he was wrong about. He tried to overcharge me for fixing the side of my house. I told him he did not need to take all of the insulation out, only a portion of it. Due to this, I refused to let him work on the inside of my house. The way he operates, he wanted to order more materials in order to fix the house, but not use them and sell them to someone else. When I paid him off he told me he was going to come put some tar on my roof. He said he would do it as soon as possible, and he would get in touch with me when he was going to do it. He never got back in touch with me, so I started calling him. After I finally got in touch with him, it was from another phone. The only reason he answered is because he did not recognize the number. I would like a refund of all of my money. I paid him $3,000.00.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
